2015 Annual Report Everybody Wins!

A letter from the Board President

As I begin my first year of leading the Board of Directors for Everybody Wins! Iowa, I reflect on this past year and the changes and challenges we experienced. We added Hillside Elementary with a new Power Breakfast program and this is our first elementary school program in the West Des Moines School District! We had numerous leadership transitions as board members joined and left the board, several new and transitioning school coordinators, Jenny our Program Manager transitioned to a great opportunity with Blank Park Zoo and Danielle Smith joined us on June 1st as our new Program Manager. This was just as we experienced a temporary move this summer of the program office to a classroom at Central Campus to accommodate construction at Walnut Street School. Despite these challenges, our program served over 500 students and read more than 383,383 pages this past year.

On a personal note, It has been another rewarding year of mentoring for me, as I was able to read with my student Savannah for our 3rd straight year. I feel that I gain as much joy (if not more) from our weekly encounters as she benefits in our reading adventures. I truly appreciate all of the efforts of our staff, volunteers, and the ongoing support of the board to make this such a successful and simple program. And, a very huge “Thank You” to everyone that supported us through another economically challenging year. The future is brighter because of each of you, and I’m looking forward to a great FY16!

Thank you!
