ABC News Live, America’s No. 1 streaming news channel, is kicking off a bold strategy for new, original programming in 2020. By year’s end, ABC News Live will air 18 hours of live and original content daily across all dayparts. The streaming channel’s robust schedule will include a mix of live, anchored news programs in prime time, morning and daytime, breaking news coverage and all-new original documentaries. To kick off the first wave of new programming, ABC News has expanded the roles of correspondent Linsey Davis and chief national affairs correspondent and “World News Tonight” Weekend anchor Tom Llamas to anchor two prime-time hours streaming each weeknight and breaking news and live special event coverage, respectively. Both will continue in their broadcast roles, reporting from the field and delivering exclusive news-making interviews for all ABC News programs. “In 2020, we have the rare opportunity to create what a perfect 24/7 news channel looks like – breaking news, live events and documentary storytelling all in one place,” said Justin Dial, senior executive producer, ABC News Live. “I’m thrilled ABC News Live will have Linsey Davis and Tom Llamas to lead the charge. They are both terrific journalists with top-notch experience doing live interviews and reporting from the field, which is where we want to see them, too, not just behind a desk.” As the first votes are cast in the 2020 election, Llamas will anchor ABC News Live’s special coverage of the Iowa Caucus on Monday, Feb. 3, at 8:00 p.m. EST live from the Hawkeye State with ABC News’ powerhouse political team. Beginning Monday, Feb. 10, on the eve of the New Hampshire primary, Davis will anchor a brand new prime-time newscast weeknights at 7:00 p.m. EST and a second hour each night at 9:00 p.m. EST. “Long-form reporting and the opportunity to ask all of the important questions in interviews are by far my favorite part of the job and I’m excited to do even more of that on ABC News Live,” said Davis. “Our prime- time show will feature in-depth storytelling and diverse reporting and I’m excited to have two hours each weeknight to spend more time diving deeper into these stories.” Davis moderated the ABC News Democratic presidential primary debate in Houston, alongside ABC News chief anchor George Stephanopoulos, “World News Tonight” anchor David Muir and Univision anchor Jorge Ramos, and in the last year has conducted interviews with Georgia’s Stacey Abrams and rapper 21 Savage after his ICE arrest that made headlines nationwide. Davis has spent time covering the Harvey Weinstein allegations and subsequent MeToo Movement, including an interview with Ronan Farrow, and landed the only interview with comedian Bill Cosby in the wake of dozens of sexual assault allegations. “Streaming is the next frontier in broadcast journalism, and we’re entering this new era full speed with the global resources and incredible journalists that make up ABC News. Viewers expect news on demand, especially breaking news, and ABC News Live will be there for them,” said Llamas. “There’s no shortage of news these days, and there will certainly be a lot of it during the week of Feb. 3.” Llamas has been the anchor of both “World News Tonight”’s weekend editions since 2017 and led news- making interviews with first lady Melania Trump, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro; and most recently with David Langford, the American father whose family was ambushed and killed in Mexico late last year. This week, Llamas is anchoring ABC News Live’s gavel-to- gavel coverage of the Senate impeachment trial, and he will be live in Manchester, New Hampshire, with the ABC News powerhouse political team for the ABC News debate on Friday, Feb. 7, and the New Hampshire primary on Tuesday, Feb. 11. Plus, ABC News Live will take advantage of streaming’s unlimited shelf space to feature multiple original documentaries throughout the year. “Guardians of the Amazon” from the award-winning “Nightline” team will debut in late February. The Amazon is at a dangerous tipping point as illegal logging is slowly ravaging millions of acres of rainforest, which is considered essential to the health of our planet. As nations debate how to protect the land, the indigenous Brazilians who live there are forced to fend for themselves and their homes. Anchor Dan Harris and ABC News gained rare access to an indigenous tribe, the Guajajara, who have taken up arms against the loggers deep in the Brazilian jungle to bring their illegal operation to a halt by any means necessary. ABC News Live is available for streaming on The Roku Channel, Hulu Live, Xumo, ABCNews.com, the ABC News and ABC mobile apps, and the ABC News OTT app on Roku, Amazon Fire TV and Apple TV. “The streaming news era is here, and we expect our viewership will continue to grow rapidly this year,” said Colby Smith, senior vice president and general manager, ABC News Digital and Live Streaming. “As journalists and storytellers, we intend to define what streaming news looks like.” There’s a clear demand in the streaming market for non-partisan, factual news programming featuring context and analysis. Consulting firm Altman Vilandrie & Co.’s annual survey on U.S. consumer video viewing habits in 2018 found that news is considered the top “must have” category by streaming viewers, and a Livestream and New York Magazine survey found that for 56% of respondents “breaking news is the type of live streaming video content they watch most often.” Seni Tienabeso is executive producer for ABC News Live prime-time coverage. Ford Presidential Library White House Communications Agency (WHCA): Videotapes of Public Affairs, News, and Other Television Broadcasts, 1973-77 WHCA selectively created, or acquired, videorecordings of news and public affairs broadcasts from the national networks CBS, NBC, and ABC; the public broadcast station WETA in Washington, DC; and various local station affiliates. Program examples include: news special reports, national presidential addresses and press conferences, local presidential events, guest interviews of administration officials, appearances of Ford family members, and the 1976 Republican Convention and Ford-Carter debates. In addition, WHCA created weekly compilation tapes of selected stories from network evening news programs. The last entries, however, are for compilation tapes of selected television appearances by Mrs. Ford, 1974-76. Some custom enthusiasts have switched to muscle cars and drag racing. Two original custom car architects, George Barris and Dean Jeffries, have been dragged into the World of Hollywood to create custom cars for television. When 20th Century-Fox and Batman producer William Dozier needed a Batmobile in 1965 (the pilot episode was supposed to premiere on ABC in January 1966), his first call went to Jeffreys, who began working on the 1959 caddy. Jeffries had to bow when he realized he couldn't meet Dozier's three-week term. Advertising custom car image Gallery Barris subsequently took the job, probably because he already owned the 1955 Lincoln Futura, a bubble-canopy concept car that Barris saved from a Ford crusher a few years ago by handing over one dollar. With a suitably low, wide chassis, as well as burning fins, a wide-mouthed grille, and a swoopy body line already in place, Futura was the Platform Barris needed to quickly deliver an outlandish, photogenic TV custom car that lived up to the manufacturer's expectations. Inside, the Futura Dash has been modified only slightly to accommodate prop gadgets such as Bat Phone, Discover-a-Scope, and Extraordinary Bat-Turn Lever. Claims about the number of Barris Batmobiles vary. Barris' crew pulled fiberglass molds from the original car to make duplicates for car show tours. Chances are four or five were made, including a drag-race race exhibition car.

The Parks Build Community campaign, which will run during Earth Month in April, will help improve parks in communities around the U.S. so that kids and families have more access to opportunities to get outdoors, be active and have fun. Park supporters everywhere have two ways to get involved. Throughout April, the public is encouraged to nominate a favorite park, which will be entered for a chance to win $20,000. In addition, the public can vote daily for park projects located in 15 communities across the country. Ben Carson’s cratered, while Ted Cruz has advanced to join the double-digit club – but with Trump now unrivaled for the lead. That said, Trump slightly trails Hillary Clinton in a general election matchup, by 6 percentage points among registered voters, expanding to 13 points among all adults. And a broad 69 percent of Americans express anxiety at the thought of Trump as president, with half saying it makes them “very” anxious. Clinton makes far fewer anxious, albeit 51 percent. Trump has 38 percent support for his party’s nomination from Republicans and GOP-leaning independents who are registered to vote, up a slight 6 points from last month, entirely among men. He’s added concerns about terrorism to his existing anti-immigrant, political outsider credentials – all pressing items in his party, but less so outside of it. Tested against his top rivals in this poll, produced for ABC by Langer Research Associates, Trump has gained 8 points in trust to handle terrorism and 7 points as the strongest leader, as well as 9 points in being seen as likeliest to win in November. He holds vast in-party advantages on all three items, and on handling immigration as well.

The media is not blind to this trend, so more and more effort is being put into the digital realm. Which is why, for this edition of SocialScene, we wanted to know which media have the most followers on social media. Is there a preferred type of news producer on the Internet? Has the way we consume news changed? METHODOLOGY For the purpose of this report, the official channels belonging to media on the three main social networks in the western world (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram) were analyzed. For media with several profiles on Twitter, the sum of people following the most significant accounts was used. This report has not taken into account the official profiles of communications groups that are not media outlets per-se, as well as specific radio or television programs and/or their hosts.     ABC News, Analysis and Investigations' response to the program review of Exposed: The Ghost Train Fire: “ABC News is grateful to Mr Chris Masters and Professor Rod Tiffen for their work in conducting this program review and welcomes the finding that the Exposed: The Ghost Train Fire performed an important public service. The review acknowledges the depth and breadth of the reporting, describing it as of a standard that very few television series achieve. It notes that the program-makers uncovered new evidence of arson being the likely cause of the fire. It also noted that the series exposed the incompetence of the police investigation, reported on the inadequacies of earlier investigations, revealed the way policy-making by the NSW government benefited businessman Abe Saffron and highlighted the corrupt circle of influence around Saffron. The review describes the program as 'an outstanding achievement', that it presented ‘much fresh, revealing and important material’, and that it 'mounts a scathing demolition of the police investigation'. The review finds the production values of the series to be very high and the cinematography world class. As the review notes, the series has received much public acclaim and very few viewer complaints. None of those complaints has been upheld by the ABC’s independent complaints investigation unit. We note that the review found no factual inaccuracies.
