MINUTES OF THE MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEETING OF THE WATER RESOURCES RETIREES’ ASSOCIATION INC HELD TUESDAY 17/10/2017 IN SUNWATER OFFICES, TURBOT ST, BRISBANE

Present: Peter Gilbey, Daryl Brigden, Rolf Rose, Ian Pullar, Russ Robson, Bruce Pearce, Mike Merrin

Apologies: Gary Corbett, (Warren Shallcross in New Zealand)

Minutes: The Minutes of the previous meeting held on 17 July 2017 had been distributed to members prior to the meeting.

Moved Bruce Pearce, Seconded Russ Robson, that the minutes be accepted as a true record of the meeting. Carried

Business arising (a) to advise staff of Association from minutes: Daryl Brigden advised that he had no success in getting any response within Seqwater to promote awareness of the Association. (b) Letter for members over 75 Letter has been sent and yet to obtain a response from W Barry and R Geddes who have been also contacted by phone. (c) 2017 – 2018 Program Secretary to include golf at Tenterfield for the 18/19 program and Bill Eastgate has provided information to Peter Gilbey. Traditionally the Committee Meeting are held on the second Tuesday of the month and functions on the third Thursday.

Treasurer’s The Treasurer’s Report had been sent to Committee Members Report: prior to the meeting.

Warren Shallcross advised Gary Corbett that he will pay the Zuver account and once we get the invoice from Warren the money can be transferred to his account.

Moved Rolf Rose, Seconded Daryl Brigden, that the Treasurer’s report be accepted and cheques payed be endorsed

Correspondence: A summary of the correspondence had been circulated before the meeting (Copy attached).

In Folio 29 Peter Gilbey corresponded with Geoff Holm LMA Project Director SunWater, regarding a visit to Glenlyon and whether anything was being done regarding the refurbishment and dedication to Ross Krebs. SunWater advised that they had Page 1 of 3

decided not to proceed with the refurbishment and dedication at the dam but DNRM would dedicate a room in Ross Krebs name in the Toowoomba Office.

Moved Rolf Rose, Seconded Mike Merrin, that the Inwards Correspondence be received and Outwards endorsed. Carried

Membership The Committee endorsed the membership from Leanne Barbeler and Robert Craig and letters will be sent confirming their membership. Robert Craig completed his application on the web.

Other Business (a) Peter Gilbey to reply to Kelly Patrick from Simmons and Bristow regarding their interest in contacting members who would be interested in undertaking work. A copy of Simmons and Bristow’s request would be included in the December 2017 Newsletter. (b) Daryl Brigden advised that the Back to Bribie function was successful and the Committee Members expressed that it was enjoyable and a good balance of activities. (c) Golf Day on 10 August 2017 will be on again next year. (d) Central Get Together was a successful event with about 25-30 members attending including Bruce Pearce and Rolf Rose from the Committee. Bruce met some members he knew from the 1960s. Peter Gilbey to ask Mike McKenna to write an article for the newsletter. (e) Christmas Lunch is to be held on 16 November 2017 and the lunch options were selected. Notification to members was posted out and will be sent by Email. (f) Warren Shallcross to pay Zuver for the registration of WRRA’s Domain name and the Association will reimburse him. (g) Ian Pullar requested any articles for the Newsletter to be supplied to him by mid November. (h) Update of the web page is to be postponed to 18/19.

Future Functions or Visits (i) Tenterfield Golf. Peter Gilbey had discussions with Bill Eastgate who also provided information on the Tenterfield golf proposal. Visitors have access to the course on Thursdays and Fridays. The April date was not adopted since it was the week before the AGM and the 17 and 18 May 2018 was considered more suitable and the May Committee Meeting could be held in Tenterfield. The proposal was - - Tuesday drive to Tenterfield

- Wednesday bus tour of - Thursday golf or other activity for the non-golfers - Friday drive home. (j) Daryl Brigden advised that he would make enquiries into a tour of the Northern Interconnector Pipeline (k) It was suggested that John Ruffini be approached for the February 2018 function. (l) Peter Gilbey would make enquiries for someone to give a presentation on the Coal Seam Gas industry and the impact on underground water. Meeting closed 12.15 pm
