2018-19 UCLA WOMEN’S BASKETBALL UCLA PLAYER NOTES ANN MEYERS DRYSDALE AWARD TOP 20 WATCH LIST The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame announced on Oct. 23, 2018, the watch list of 20 candidates for the 2018 Ann Meyers Drysdale Award, and UCLA senior guard Kennedy Burke made the cut. Named after the first player, male or female, named to the All- America Team in four straight college seasons, the annual award in its inaugural year recognizes the top shooting guard in women’s NCAA Division I college basketball. Burke averaged 10.6 points per game in 2017-18 and is the team’s top returning scorer.

OWENS, CORSARO RETURN The Bruins regained the services of redshirt freshmen Lindsey Corsaro and Kayla Owens. Both players received medical hardship waivers and missed a majority of the 2017-18 season due to injuries. Corsaro played in just two contests a year ago, averaging 3.5 points and three rebounds in those games. Meanwhile, Owens saw action in eight games, averaging 9.1 minutes, 3.6 points, 1.5 assists and 0.9 rebounds.

BRUINS WELCOME ANOTHER TEXAN A transfer out of Baylor, Natalie Chou (Plano, Texas) joined the Bruin roster in the offseason. She will sit out during the 2018-19 season due to NCAA transfer rules. As a sophomore in 2017-18, Chou started the first 21 games for the Bears before suffering an injury to her non-shooting wrist, which required surgery. She appeared in 27 games overall, averaging 6.7 points, 3.3 boards and 2.3 assists. On Nov. 6, 2018 at Loyola Marymount, In high school, she was rated as the No. 9 prospect in her class and No. 2 at her position by ESPN Hoopgurlz. senior Kennedy Burke became the 34th player in UCLA women’s basketball his- DEAN, CORSARO LEAD BRUINS IN EXHIBITION WIN tory to score at least 1,000 career points. In UCLA’s 75-55 exhibition win over Westmont College on Nov. 3, 2018, senior guard Japreece Dean erupted for 22 points to go along with six dimes and three rebounds. She shot 8-for-14 from the floor and drilled two three’s. Meanwhile, Lindsey Corsaro nearly notched a triple-double in the 20-point win over the Warriors. She posted 12 points, 10 rebounds and seven dimes, playing 31 minutes without a turnover.

ONYENWERE STEPS UP ON GLASS Sophomore forward Michaela Onyenwere pulled down a career-best 13 rebounds in the season-opener vs. Loyola Marymount on Nov. 6, showing just how important the Aurora, Colo., native is to the Bruin frontcourt. A Pac-12 All-Freshman team selection in 2017-18, Onyenwere averaged 6.9 points and 4.7 rebounds as a freshman, shooting a blistering 47.2 percent (101-for-214) from the field. She posted double-figure scoring in nine games, including a season-high 20 at Utah on Jan. 12, 2018.

BURKE JOINS 1,000-POINT CLUB Senior forward Kennedy Burke joined the 1,000-point club on Nov. 6, 2018, at Loyola Marymount. She becomes the 34th player in UCLA women’s basketball history to have at least 1,000 points. She is also currently tied with Natalie Williams (1991-94) for fifth all-time with 97 career blocks.

MILLER SHINES IN HOME OPENER In 2017-18, Lauryn Miller averaged just 6.4 minutes per game behind standout center Monique Billings. Now, Miller is in the spotlight down low, and the sophomore has scored in double figures twice thus far in 2018-19, including a career-best 12 points on a career-high five field goals made in UCLA’s 78-62 win over Seton Hall on Nov. 18.

ONYENWERE PUTS ON CLINIC AGAINST GEORGIA Michaela Onyenwere had herself a day on the national stage against 14th-ranked Georgia on Nov. 14, helping the Bruins earn their first win against the Bulldogs at Pauley Pavilion. She scored 17 of her career-high 25 points in the second half to go along with 11 rebounds for her fourth career double-double. She also dished out a career-high four assists.

ONYENWERE RECEIVES NATIONAL RECOGNITION After averaging 20 points and 10 rebounds in UCLA’s two wins over No. 14 Georgia and Seton Hall, Michaela Onyenwere was named the College Sports Madness National Player of the Week. 2018-19 UCLA WOMEN’S BASKETBALL WELCOME TO PAULEY PAVILION PRESENTED BY WESCOM The complete renovation of UCLA’s historic arena, Pauley Pavilion, took 33 months (from 2010-12) and cost just under $136 million. New Pauley Pavilion seats 13,800 fans – 1,000 more than the “old” Pauley Pavilion. Other key features of the renovated facility include a custom-designed video board, additional LED hustle boards, major increases in restrooms and a wider variety of concession stands. Here are a few key features, at a glance: • New Pauley Pavilion houses a 16-foot by 12-foot, LED, High Definition Daktronics Video board perched above center court with all four sides visible to fans. • In addition, there are LED hustle boards in each of the corners that track player statistics, as well as an LED ribbon board encircling the top of the arena. • New Pauley Pavilion now has 154% more restrooms throughout the building, including on the event level. • The pavilion’s North side hosts a grand lobby that highlights the theme “Champions Made Here” as well as the multi-purpose Pavilion Club for game-day hospitality. • Additional dining options include California Pizza Kitchen, Subway, Jersey Mike’s, Jamba Juice, Pavilion Market, Joe Brewin Coffee Stand, the outdoor South Plaza and traditional fare. • Not only does New Pauley Pavilion have a wider variety of concession stands, the arena now features a UCLA team store in the Northeast corner, operated by ASUCLA. • New Pauley Pavilion includes nearly 100 monitors throughout the building, many of which are used to show the game telecast. Other monitors can be used as menu boards at numerous concession points. • The renovation established 70,000 additional square feet of usable space than existed in the building’s previous configuration. Additions include two state-of-the-art locker rooms with cherry wood lockers and adjacent lounge areas, a 24-seat film room, weight room and sports medicine room. • Teams that called Pauley Pavilion home prior to the renovation (m/w basketball, m/w volleyball, and gymnastics) will continue to compete there. In addition, the 2013 NCAA Women’s Gymnastics Championships and NCAA Men’s Volleyball Championships took place in Pauley.

THE MO OSTIN BASKETBALL CENTER In 2014, UCLA Athletics announced its efforts to raise private funds for a state-of-the- art basketball practice facility. Named after legendary music industry executive and philanthropist Morris “Mo” Ostin, the Mo Ostin Basketball Center is currently being constructed near Pauley Pavilion at the south end of the Los Angeles Tennis Center and officially opened on Oct. 26, 2017, less than three-and-a-half years after the campaign’s launch.

The new The Mo Ostin Basketball Center is a comprehensive basketball practice facility located near Pauley Pavilion. Highlights of the new building design include:

l State-Of-The-Art basketball practice facility dedicated to honoring current and former UCLA Basketball student-athletes l Practice gyms for both men’s and women’s programs l Locker rooms for both men’s and women’s basketball programs l Men’s and women’s basketball training area, weight room and film room l Exclusive use for both men’s and women’s basketball programs and their student- athletes
