FIRST SEASON WINDS DOWN WITH HOME TILT AGAINST URBANA FAST FACTS The inaugural season of Falcon Football comes to a NOTRE DAME URBANA close on Saturday with Notre Dame hosting the Blue Knights of Urbana University. NDC’s 11th game finds the Falcons looking for their first win at home. Notre Dame is thus far 0-4 in the confines of Korb Field.

COACHING STAFF HEAD COACH ADAM HOWARD

OFFENSE Adam Howard was named NDC’s first head coach in January 2009. Howard came to College Road from across PRESS BOX town, where he served as assistant head coach/ defensive coordinator for Baldwin-Wallace. He was the Yellow Jackets’ defensive coordinator from 2003 Bill Rychel Ron Cosby -08 and the defensive backs coach in 2002. At B Offensive Coordinator Wide Receivers -W, the former Wilmington College player (1993- Assistant Head Coach 97) developed one of the finest defensive corps in the Ohio Athletic Conference.

Howard was named the OAC’s Assistant Coach of the Year in 2003, and his Yellow Jacket SIDELINE defenses consistently performed at a high level. B-W ranked in the OAC’s top-four in fewest points allowed in five of his six seasons as defensive coordinator. In 2004, the Yellow Jackets ranked Mickey Mental Scott Niedzwiecki Tony Neymeier Carter Welo second in the league and 10th in the nation, GA-Tight Ends GA-Offensive Line Running Backs yielding just 13.5 points per game. Howard’s B- Football Operations W defenses allowed fewer than 20.0 points per game in five of his six seasons in Berea.

DEFENSE The Falcons’ first gridiron leader has a football background that is all-Ohio. He originally hails from New Carlisle, Ohio, and was a standout player at Springfield Northwestern High School. PRESS BOX Prior to heading to B-W, Howard was the defensive coordinator and recruiting coordinator at Wilmington College from 1999-2002. Before that, he served as the defensive ends coach at Matt Kostelnick Ty Stillman E.J. Whitlow the University of Dayton in 1998-1999. Linebackers Defensive Backs GA-Defensive Line Recruiting Coordinator Strength & Conditioning Howard is a Wilmington College graduate (1997). While at Wilmington, he played four years of football and earned four varsity letters as a defensive back. He was a two-time All- SIDELINE American Mideast Conference selection and earned Football Gazette All-North Region honors as a senior. Howard served as a team captain as a senior at WC.

Darren Cereshenko Gus Patouhas Dan Wondolowski Howard and his wife, Jeannette, have one child -- GA-Defensive Backs Defensive Line Defensive Backs Levi, who was born in 2009. They reside in JV Head Coach Strongsville, Ohio.

SPECIAL TEAMS “TRESS” IMPRESSED When Adam Howard came to NDC, he arrived with an impressive, all-Ohio coaching background with ties to Baldwin-Wallace College. And that has caught the eye of an Ohio coaching SIDELINE legend with similar ties:

“Adam Howard is a coach who is dedicated to his players and to making his [college] better on and Tom Sutton F O O T B A L L off the field,” said Ohio State Head Coach Jim Kickers/Punters Tressel. “His enthusiasm and energy make him a great fit for Notre Dame as they begin a football program there.”

Tressel lettered at B-W (playing for his father, Students Assistants—Mike Fleeman, Tim Rosenbaum, Neil Piskac Lee Tressel) as a from 1971-74, Volunteer Asst—Kris Pappas earning all-conference honors his senior season. He graduated cum laude with a degree in education in 1975.

SCOUTING THE BLUE KNIGHTS * The Blue Knights enter Saturday’s contest on the heels of defeating Central State, 40-12, last Saturday. The home-game romp over the Marauders marked the first time this season that Urbana had won games in consecutive weeks.

* Urbana is averaging 32.3 points per game this season, which ranks 36th out of 151 D-II teams in the nation. The Blue Knights have scored 30 or more points in each of their last three games, and they’ve scored 35 points or more in five contests overall.

* Close games were the Achilles’ heel of the Blue Knights early in the season, as they dropped three of their first four games by a total of seven points. Urbana began the season with a 17-14 road loss to West Virginia Wesleyan and dropped two out of their next three to ranked opponents. TALE OF THE TAPE * While the Blue Knights went 3-2 at University of Urbana Stadium this season, they have struggled NOTRE DAME Category URBANA on the road, going 1-4. UU’s lone road victory came on Oct. 30, in a 42-25 victory over Missouri S & T. ... WR Joe Webb has hauled in 39 passes for 561 yards and five scores, while WR Jerrell Leak has caught five passes on 33 receptions and 318 yards. Twelve different player have caught passes for the Blue Knights this season. URBANA SCHEDULE/RESULTS * Defensively, the Blue Knights are paced by LB TravisTravis BriscoBrisco, who leads the team with 80 tackles Sept. 3 at WV Wesleyan L, 14-17 (24.5 for loss) and has registered an 14 sacks on the season. Brisco has also forced six fumbles, Sept. 11 SETON HILL W, 44-13 and recovered two. DB Juan McKeever has six interceptions on the season; he returned one of Sept. 18 at Tusculum L, 36-39 those picks for a touchdown. McKeever ranks third on the team with 70 tackles, and he has a Sept. 25 at Walsh L, 33-34 pair of fumble recoveries.

* For the season, Urbana has converted 38.5 percent (55-of-143) of its third-down opportunities. The Blue Knights have converted at a 46.6 percent (27-of-58) clip over their last four tilts. ... UU is 8-of-16 on fourth-down tries.

* Defensively, Urbana has allowed a 36.5 percent (50-of-137) rate of success on third downs. In recent games, however, the Blue Knights have been stingy in the clutch, holding foes to a 6-for- 34 (17.6 percent) mark since Oct. 23.

* In the red zone, the Blue Knights have converted 48 trips into 209 points (30 TDs, two field goals). Urbana has come away with points on 66.7 percent (32-of-48) of their visits inside the opponents’ 20-yard line.
