Makkelijke groenten Het aanleggen van een moestuin is helemaal niet moeilijk. Ze groeien super snel, bloeien lang en opvallend en ook lang nadat ze uitgebloeid zijn, kan je ze laten staan. De zaadjes zullen dan heel wat vogels lokken, die de meest halsbrekende toeren uithalen om ze uit de bloem te plukken. Voorzie een hoekje in de tuin waar je klein kinderen helemaal hun zin mogen doen. Kruiden planten, aardbeien kweken, bloemen planten, putten graven, naar schatten zoeken, moddertaartjes bakken, kriebelbeestjes observeren, …. Maak wel duidelijk tot waar hun tuintje reikt, anders spitten ze straks de hele tuin om. Je kan hun tuintje afbakenen met stokken of stenen die ze tijdens wandeltochtjes zelf verzamelen. Je kan ook samen een mooi bordje maken met hun naam erop. Speciaal voor kleine natuurontdekkers bedachten we leuke boekjes, gadgets en zoekkaarten. Goeie tips. De elpee is in de maanden daarvoor in Los Angeles opgenomen met verschillende producers, onder wie Rod Temperton en Richard James Burgess, en thuis in Engeland afgemaakt door broer Ricky. Een coverversie van de Supremes-hit You Keep Me Hangin' On betekent in '87 Kims eerste grote hit sinds tijden en haar definitieve doorbraak in de Verenigde Staten, waar de plaat in juni van dat jaar op de eerste plaats belandt. Ook de titelsong van Another Step, een duet met zanger Junior, is succesvol in de hitlijsten. Dat Kim weer helemaal 'top of the bill' is, bewijst haar deelneming aan Ferry Aid in maart ' de verzamelde Engelse artiesten zingen Let It Be ten bate van de slachtoffers van de veerbootramp bij Zeebrugge België. Populairder dan ooit scoort Kim in de tweede helft van '88 en begin '89 maar liefst vier maal op rij, daaronder wederom een duet met Junior, nu in Hey Mister Heartache, nadat ze in juni als voorprogramma van Michael Jackson onder meer ook in de Rotterdamse kuip te bewonderen is. Op het album Close is Kim onder produktionele leiding van Tony Swain bekend van o. Bananarama ondanks de hitsuccessen een artistiek heilloze weg ingeslagen die steevast tot vlees noch visprodukten leidt. De coole Kim met de prachtig verkouden smeekstem toont zich in haar videoclip meer sexy dan ooit en als je goed kijkt lacht ze soms naar de camera, iets wat in het begin van haar carrière verboden leek. Het liefst met grove delen, dan wordt de grond 'luchtig' en kunnen groenten makkelijker groeien. Strooi vervolgens een laagje van ongeveer centimeter potgrond over je moestuin. Daarna kunnen de kruiden erin gezet worden en kan de boel gaan groeien. Probeer de planten niet te veel water te geven, dan ontstaan er schimmels. Maar laat ze ook niet uitdrogen. Je kunt dit het beste controleren door af en toe met je vinger te voelen. Is de grond droog of hangt de plant slap? Goed om te weten: sla, radijs en spinazie kunnen niet goed tegen droogte. Klinkt logisch, maar zorg ervoor dat de tuin goed wordt onderhouden: haal op tijd onkruid weg, let op dode bladeren en gebruik eventueel moestuinvoeding. There is an American musical conversation we have inherited, that grew out of the native and immigrant traditions of our nation, and especially those who immigrated here against their will—the African slaves. While this musical conversation reflects all aspects of American life over the history of our nation, perhaps nowhere has it been more powerful, more iconic and of higher impact than when it was used to voice protest for social and justice issues of our world, our society and the average working American. This musical conversation happened in a variety of ways. The genesis and evolution of the lyrics and music themselves represent a sharing and passing down of musical ideas, frequently born of old hymns, spirituals and slave songs.
