he President of India, Ram Nath TKovind presented Standard to 118 Helicopter Unit and Colour to Air Defence College at Air Force Station, Guwahati on November 29, 2018. The other dignitaries included the Governor and Chief Minister of Assam, Air Chief Marshal and other high ranking civil and military personalities. The event was marked by splendid parade by the Air Warriors, display of Rifle Drill and Air Show by the famous “Sarang Team”. The President's Standard and Colours are the highest and the most prestigious honour bestowed upon Units of the Armed Forces in recognition of their valuable contribution to the security of our nation, both during hostilities and peace. 118 Helicopter Unit, the “Challenger” was raised at Chabua on November 22, 1971 with Mi-8 Helicopters. Soon thereafter, the Unit moved to Guwahati at its present location and was assigned roles of Special Operations, Offensive Air Support, Air Maintenance, Route

Air Defence College (ADC) is a premier Officer Training establishment of , specialising in Air Defence Operational training. It was raised as Control and Reporting School in 1958. From a small beginning, conducting two courses, the institution has grown to be a centre of excellence in Air Defence Training. The College also provides training to sister organisations and also to friendly foreign countries. 118 Helicopter Unit and Air Defence College have been nominated for award of President’s Standard and Colour respectively for their sustained dedication, professionalism and their contribution to security of the nation, both during war and peace. he 18th meeting of the India- TRussia Inter-Governmental Commission on Military Technical Cooperation (IRIGC-MTC) was held in New Delhi on December 13, 2018. The meeting was co-chaired by Raksha Mantri Smt Nirmala Sitharaman and Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation, General Sergei Shoigu. In the framework of the bilateral Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership, the IRIGC-MTC meeting discussed a wide range of issues relating to defence equipment, industry and technological engagement between India and Russia as-well-as after sales support and upgradation of military equipment of Russian origin. aksha Mantri Smt Nirmala RSitharaman was on an official visit to the United States of America from December 2 to 7, 2018, at the invitation of US Secretary of Defence, James N Mattis. In Washington DC, she had a meeting with Secretary Mattis who also hosted a dinner in her honour. Prior to the meeting, on her arrival at the Pentagon, she was received by Secretary Mattis and was accorded the Armed Forces Enhanced Honours Cordon welcome. During their meeting, discussions were held on the growing partnership between India and the US in the defence sphere. en Bipin Rawat, Chief of Army GStaff was the Reviewing Officer for the Passing out Parade of 135th course of National Defence Academy on November 30, 2018. A total of 261 cadets graduated from the Academy as they passed through the portals of the prestigious Khetrapal Parade Ground. This included 186 cadets from the Army, 21 cadets from the Navy and 54 cadets from the Air Force. This includes 16 cadets from the friendly foreign countries also passed out from the Academy. The cadets are from Afghanistan, Bhutan, Kyrgyzstan, Lesotho, Tanzania, Tajikistan, Mauritius, Vietnam and Sri Lanka. Gen Bipin Rawat, Chief of Army Staff reviewed the Parade and addressed the Passing-out-Course cadets wherein he complimented the cadets for their exceptional drill movements.
