Produced by Grammy award-winning producer Jacknife Lee - who has worked with the likes of U2, Taylor Swift, REM and Snow Patrol - ‘All the Colours Of the World’ showcases the band's own take on the state of the world, covering pertinent themes such as the global pandemic, politics, climate change and race relations. ‘Recover’ is a touching tribute to frontman ’s father-in-law who sadly lost his life to Covid-19. Despite the grave subject, ‘Recover’ is a beautiful song that evokes hope which is testament to Booth’s song writing prowess and tackles his emotions that will resonate with anyone who has lost a loved one. Poignant lines such as "will he get better?" really hit home and this, combined with the striking beat, makes for a memorable tune which is without doubt one of the album's highlights. He also showcases his talent in ‘Living In Extraordinary Times’, which provides his insight in living in the United States dur- ing the Trump administration and the divisiveness that this caused. ' ZERO', the opening track is a joyful sounding, festival friendly song about death. It encourages the listener to not be caught up by time; "We’re all gonna die, that’s the truth / Quit measuring time by money and youth..." One of the standout tracks has to be ‘Beautiful Beaches’ which centres around climate change and the impact on California after it was devastating by forest fires. Tim Booth himself was personally affected and he and his family were forced to flee his home in order to escape the fires that ravaged California. Whilst there are still shades of James’ jangly indie-pop in parts, this album takes the band into a new sonic adventure where you hear lo-if leanings and pumping club beats. Rating: 8/10” - CLASH Magazine, 6/3/21

“James have done it again! Like they have so many times throughout their career, these maverick, British alt rockers have refreshed and expanded on their already alluring sound. It may not qualify as a re-invention, but it is definitely another transformation. It’s not surprising though, as James have al- ways looked to push the envelope and explore new directions regardless of genre, as long as the outcome is great music. And All the Colours of You, James’ sixteenth studio album, certainly meets that criteria. Musically, the mood of All the Colours of You is decidedly more upbeat than the intimidating, thwacking rock of 2018’s Living in Extraordinary Times, but the lyrics contain just as much venom. Pontificating about climate change, COVID, and politics, frontman Tim Booth provides his usual stinging commentary only this time around it’s wrapped in the band’s majestic amalgamation of anthemic stadium rock and alternative pop hooks. The inclu- sion of syncopated bass lines, electronic beats, and swirling sound effects create a sound that is both refreshingly unfamiliar yet fabulously James. Whether it’s a slick, grooving bass boom added at just the right moment, a shrewd cadence modulation that bridges to a soaring pop hook, or a re- verberating guitar consonance, James achieve the perfect balance between the dynamic and the ethereal. In addition to the title track, standout songs such as “Recover,” “Wherever It Takes Us,” and “Isabella” are built to wow live audiences and encourage sing-alongs the way “Many Faces” did on their last tour. The album is not without its hiccups, however, as second single “Beautiful Beaches” comes across as a second-rate mockup and the slow burning “Miss America” misses the mark entirely. Overall, All the Colours of You is a super satisfying musical experience that solidifies an illustrious 35-year career, proving James have overcome a boring and unGoogleable name by being unpredictable, daring, and bold and making a distinctive brand of creative with rich textures and shrewd melodies. Rating: 8/10” - Under The Radar, 6/4/21 OffBeat Magazine loves Quinn Sullivan’s new album Wide Awake “Admired since his boyhood by Buddy Guy, Carlos Santana and Eric Clapton, 22-year-old Quinn Sulli- van has grown into a complete artist. Modern though his music is, Sullivan retains his strong foundation in the blues and rock that inspire him. First known as a guitar prodigy, the Massachusetts-based singer, songwriter and guitarist emerges as a potential pop star with Wide Awake. Recorded in Los Angeles with producer and co-writer Oliver Leiber, the album’s deftly conceived songs have pop potential. Sullivan mines multiple genres, confi- dently spinning Beatles-esque melody and pop-flavored soul and rock. “She’s So Irresistible” finds Sullivan doing Lenny Kravitz riff rock that has pop appeal. His rhythm and blues and British pop influences align in “How Many Tears,” a mid-tempo acoustic number containing the tunefulness of Paul McCartney, Squeeze and Peter Frampton. The song’s melodic guitar solo shows Sullivan’s knack for melody that’s played, as well as sung. Riffing guitar returns in “In a World Without You,” featuring the innovative Sullivan’s unexpected voice-and-guitar dialogues in an upbeat song in the mold of Michael McDonald-era Doobie Brothers. Wide Awake’s pop-oriented material includes “She’s Gone (& She Ain’t Coming Back),” a torch song with another of Sullivan’s passionate vocal performances plus bell-like guitar tones. “We made love to Marvin singing ‘Girl, let’s get it on,’” he sings. “But, baby, I’ve heard it through the grapevine that we’re done.” Sullivan puts layers of bright guitars in “Real Thing,” a throwback to ’80s arena and alternative rock. His penchant for referencing classics reappears in the buoyant love song “You’re the One:” “And I know where, exactly where we were when you stole my heart,” he sings. “The radio was playing ‘Dancing in the Dark.’ You said, ‘Trust me boy, your life is just about to start.’” Sullivan’s latest album and his talent, experience and star endorsements suggest he’s on the cusp of a major career.” - OffBeat, 5/27/21 Coming up… 6/21: Lindsey Buckingham “I Don’t Mind”… 6/28: Pokey LaFarge RIGHT ARM RESOURCE WEEKLY UPDATE - 6/9/2021
