Dear Friends:

On behalf of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, a warm welcome to everyone gathered for the 24th Annual American Celtic Ball.

The Ireland Chamber of Commerce-USA has long been a valued friend and partner of the U.S. Chamber. Together, we have been strong advocates for the U.S.- Ireland partnership and continue to foster mutually beneficial opportunities.

The fact that the United States has more invested in Ireland than in Brazil, Russia, India, and China combined is not so much a credit to our work as it is to the remarkable industry of the . Ireland has carved out its own place, identity, and competencies in the global community. It is an attractive destination for U.S. investment, and we likewise welcome Irish investments, goods, and services. Even with today’s challenges, both Irish and American businesses share an innovative spirit and an entrepreneurial drive. They are vital to our thriving trade relationship and the strength of our economies.

On a personal note, I am the proud descendant of Irish immigrants and have always had a special bond to the country of my heritage and its spirited people. It has been a great personal privilege to help forge stronger ties between the United States and Ireland through my work at the U.S. Chamber—including six business missions to the Emerald Isle.

I appreciate the work of the ICCUSA and congratulate all of tonight’s award recipients for their achievements and contributions.

Sincerely,
