At Island Savings, a division of , we believe in making a real difference in the financial lives of our members and in our communities. Our social, environmental and people practices are integral to strengthening our communities and ensuring that in years to come, our credit union, our members and employees, live, work and play in a healthy and sustainable community. Since our establishment more than 65 years ago, we have continued to forge lasting partnerships that allow us to contribute to the strength and sustainability of the communities in which we live and serve.

In response to your questionnaire re: environmental consciousness and community investment

1) Strategy As a part of our Credit Unions overall commitment to the environment, more specifically, reducing GHG emissions some highlights are; 0 Our new branch designs are focused on small footprints to reduce maintenance and operating costs. 0 Branches are located in the vicinity of public transit and we provide secured bike storage to promote alternative energy efficient transportation. 0 Exclusive use of non—toxic,biodegradable, environmenta||y—friend|y cleaning products. 0 Dedicated car—poo|ing parking spots now being made available in many branches. 0 Corporate vans and fleet vehicle use has expanded encouraging pooling for business travel.

0 First West does not currently have a formalized strategy with regards to whether or not we provide financing to large greenhouse gas emitters.

2) Footprint We do not report publically on our Scope 3 GHG emissions. We have been recognized in the past for our contributions and the work we do to minimize our overall corporate footprint.

3) Green Bonds 0 First West Credit Union including the Island Savings region, does not currently deal in green bonds

4) Community Re-Investment

0 1: VICTORIA First West Credit Union total value of investment in the community in Victoria: $84,000 **this figure includes: cash donations and corporate partnerships with non—profitagencies such as the Victoria Foundation, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Victoria and the Victoria Conservatory of Music as well as Island Savings’ local application Growing Island Families Together—GlFT program financial grants (value for all volunteerism, in—kindinvestments and employee giving is captured in section #3)

0 2: CRD First West Credit Union total value of investment in the community in the CRD. $134,675 ** this figure includes: cash donations and corporate partnerships with non—profitagencies such as the Victoria Hospital Foundation, the Pacific Institute for Sport Excellence, and the District of Saanich as well as Island Savings’ local application Growing Island Families Together—GIFT program financial grants (value for all volunteerism, in—kindinvestments and employee giving is captured in section #3)

0 3: First West Credit Union total value of investment in the community on Vancouver Island and the : $426,334 **this figure includes: cash donations and corporate partnerships with non—profitagencies such as the Foundation, the Port Theatre Society, Theatre Festival Society and Vancouver Island University, local application Growing Island Families Together —GIFTprogram financial grants, during working volunteerism, in- kind investments, and employee giving campaigns

0 Total value of volunteer efforts during working hours: $85,825 (the equivalent of 3,433 hours) Total number of volunteer hours during non—working hours: 1,510 hours

0 4: BRITISHCOLUMBIA First West Credit Union total value of investment in the community: $3,172,370 **this figure includes: cash, during working volunteerism, in—kindinvestments, program management costs, employee giving and funds leveraged (fundraising activities for signature cause programming)

0 Total value of volunteer efforts during working hours: $126,238 (the equivalent of 5,049 hours) 0 Total number of volunteer hours during non—working hours: 7,721

0 5: FIRSTNATIONS COMMUNITIES - $57,000 First West Credit Union total value of investment towards the Success By 6 provincial initiative which also includes Aboriginal Success by 6 support in many of our communities. This value also reflects support of bursaries for the Nanaimo Aboriginal Centre.
