The names of Chairmen of the various Standing Committees and Department-related Parliamentary Standing Committees along with their local residential addresses and telephone numbers have also been shown at the beginning of the publication. The names of Members of the Lok Sabha serving on the Joint Committees on which Rajya Sabha is represented have also been included under the respective Committees for information. Change of nominations/elections of Members of Rajya Sabha in various Parliamentary Committees/Statutory Bodies is an ongoing process. As such, some information contained in the publication may undergo change by the time this is brought out. When new nominations/elections of Members to Committees/Statutory Bodies are made or changes in these take place, the same get updated in the Rajya Sabha website. The main purpose of this publication, however, is to serve as a primary source of information on Members representing various Committees and other Bodies on which Rajya Sabha is represented upto a particular period. -

Yogi Adityanath Tasa launched the attack during a seminar on Impact of Climate Change on Tea and Ameliorative Measures at the Tea Research auditorium at Tocklai in Jorhat district. The seminar was attended by Invincible Indians Union commerce secretary Rita Teotia, senior officials of the commerce ministry, Tea Board of India Football and stakeholders from the tea industry. Entertainment Tasa said the administration in Delhi has not shown much interest in the tea industry as there is a feeling that the tea industry is not as big as the other sectors. The turnover of the tea industry is around News Rs 15,000 crore and Assam produces more than half the tea in the country. -

SHRI KAMAKHYA PRASAD TASA: Will the Minister of HOME AFFAIRS be pleased to state: (a) whether there is an ongoing problem in the border areas of Assam, Nagaland; (b) if so, the details thereof; (c) the time when the border dispute between Assam and Nagaland started; (d) the total inter-State areas in kilometres shared by the two States; (e) whether there is any ongoing cases regarding this issue in the courts; and (f) if so, the steps taken by the Government to settle these disputes? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF HOME AFFAIRS (SHRI KIREN RIJIJU) (a) to (d): There is a decades old boundary dispute between the States of Assam and Nagaland regarding actual demarcation of boundary. These two States share about 512 Km long boundary. Nagaland claims a part of area along the border in the districts of Golaghat, Jorhat and Sibsagar in Assam. This area has been marked as Disputed Area Belt (DAB). (e) & (f): An Original Civil Suit No. 2/1988, filed by Government of Assam, is presently pending in the Hon’ble Supreme Court. Hence, the matter is sub- judice. To maintain peace and status quo in the DAB, neutral forces have been deployed by the Government of India to police the border between these States and the local administrations of both sides maintain constant liaison. Along the Assam-Nagaland border, there are Border Peace and Coordination Committees (BPCCs) comprising of representatives of States of Assam and Nagaland. -

JANASANYOG, ASSAM CHIEF MINISTER’S PUBLIC RELATIONS CELL, DISPUR PRESS RELEASE ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Press Release No. 826/2020 Sonowal holds meeting with scientists of Assam Agriculture University For agricultural development, Assam Agriculture University should play crucial role: Sonowal Dispur, December 11: Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal who held a meeting with the Vice Chancellor of Assam Agriculture University and its faculty members at the university premises in Jorhat today, discussed a slew of measures for the growth of agriculture in the state. During the meeting Chief Minister Sonowal made it eloquently clear that since the economy of the state is predominantly dependent on agriculture, efforts should be on to bolster the growth of the state by revamping the agriculture sector. He said that since thousands of families are dependent on agriculture, for the economic development of the farming community, Assam Agriculture University should draw a road map and take crucial role. Stating that Central and State governments have initiated several schemes for the empowerment of the farmers, Sonowal said that the Agriculture University should take pragmatic steps for the success of the schemes. He also requested the fraternity of Assam Agriculture University to infuse science and technology to build an agriculture development narrative to ensure health and wealth of the farmers and other consumers of the state. Sonowal also harped on close relation between the farmers and agriculture scientists. He said that the Agriculture University should take a lead role in encouraging the farmers to modern and scientific agricultural practices. The Chief Minister said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken several steps to raise the dignity of the farmers.
