SKY TRY On Tuesday 3 Feb 45 Saints Peter and Paul students were invited down to the to take part in the opening of a new Sky and Partnership called Sky Try. Sky Try is a seven year partnership with the RFL, which aims to increase the number of viewers, spectators and participants in rugby league. A major part of this is the Sky Grass Roots Programme which aims to make rugby league more accessible to primary and secondary school students.

A mixture of Year 7-9 lads took part in 3 different skills practices which focussed on the main aspects of rugby skills and fitness and a mixture of Year 8-12 girls took part in a mini tick and pass tournament.

All sessions had players attached who got involved with the sessions, past legends like Terry O’Connor and Phil Clarke to current players like and Josh Charnley.

The day was a fantastic success with the students enjoying every minute. Well done to all who took part and thank you to Kurtis Marsh from the Widnes Vikings for providing the students with the opportunity to take part.

YEAR 10 THEATRE TRIP On Wednesday 28 January, 92 students from Year 10 braved the wintery weather to travel to the Bolton Octagon Theatre to see a performance of Arthur Miller’s play, A View from the Bridge.

The students are currently studying the play as part of their GCSE English Literature course and are preparing to sit their exams in May. All of the students commented on how much they thoroughly enjoyed the experience and how it has furthered their understanding of significant scenes in the play.

It was wonderful to hear them discussing the director’s interpretations of the use of props and the actors’ delivery of key lines on the coach journey home!

SPRING CONCERT - Rock Legends WEEKLY PRAYER Monday 9 March It probably hasn’t escaped your notice that the days are St Basil’s Catholic slowly getting longer. There’s a touch more light around in Primary School the mornings and early evenings, and I can’t help but think of St Michael’s Catholic it as an offering of hope, a glimpse of spring that is now on Primary School the horizon, a promise of what’s to come. Unusually we Holy Family Primary School won’t be in College for Ash Wednesday, the start of Lent, but that hope and promise offered in the lengthening of the days Tuesday 10 March is a mere reflection of the hope and joy promised us by our St John Fisher Catholic Primary School faith, given to us through the resurrection.
