The department of English and Languages organized a skit “Upamanyu” on 5th September as part of Teacher’s day celebration. The play depicted the role of a teacher in a student’s life. Swami Purnamritananda Puri blessed the occasion. Lot of students participated and prizes were awarded. Sri. K.B. Sreekumar, General Manager, Janma Bhoomi delivered a lecture. A project to popularize Malayalam reading “Amritam Malayalam” , was launched on the occasion and a copy of Janma Bhoomi daily was blessed and received by Sri. K.B. Sreekumar from Swami Purnamritananda Puri. The selected students and staff enacted different characters of Ramayana. Raksha Bandhan was also celebrated on the last day of one week celebration of Samskriti Dinangal 2014. Onam celebrations at the campus was held on 3rd September 2014. Floral design competition was held at the auditorium. Students actively participated in various events like Thiruvathirakali, Vegetable Carving and Pulikali. The staff performed a delightful Thiruvathirakali which was highly appreciated. Samskritostav – 2014 Remya Sandhya – One week celebration was organized in the campus with various events. As part an evening to honour to Sri. Ramesan Nair of the event, the Department organized a quiz competition (Sanskrit) for the About 100 students and staff attended the Remya Sandhya, an evening cultural UG and PG students of our campus on 5th August.     DELHI Festival of Letters 2014 Conglemeration of Writers Festival of Letters 2014 (Sahityotsav) was organised in Delhi on a grand scale from 10-15 March 2014 at a few venues, Meghadoot Theatre Complex, Kamani Auditorium and Rabindra Bhawan lawns and Sahitya Akademi auditorium. It is the only inclusive literary festival in the country that truly represents 24 Indian languages and literature in India. Festival of Letters 2014 sought to reach out to the writers of all age groups across the country. Noteworthy feature of this year was a massive ‘Akademi Exhibition’ with rare collage of photographs and texts depicting the journey of the Akademi in the last 60 years. Felicitation of Sahitya Akademi Fellows was held as a part of the celebration of the jubilee year. The syllabus revision was preceded by workshops at the department level attended by faculty and external experts. The feedback of the alumni and the requirements of the industry were also taken into account. With the objective of updating the contents and fine-tuning the courses to the syllabi of the NET/JRF examinations, various Boards of Studies have revised the syllabi to the extent of approximately 20% of the existing ones.
