MacOS X iTunes Remote When Started the first time the software looks something like the screenshot below:

You will be asked to enter a servername (just put in the IP or the name of your iTunes machine). You can also cancel this and let the remote pairing find out the IP for you. You will have to choose the server then with the iTunes Server button.

Before you can use the software you still need to register the remote to iTunes. Click on the bonjour icon.

When you do this, on the iTunes machine you should see a MacOS Remote if you click on it, you can enter a passcode, use anything. MacOS X iTunes Remote

If all went well iTunes will look something like this:

After you quit and reopen MacOS X iTunes Remote, you can type an artist in the search field (I used Joe Jackson). Or click on icon of a person on the right. That should give a list of artists.

In iTunes there should now be a Remote playlist that even started playing. You can now use the next and previous buttons to go through the playlist. The play button also pauses. MacOS X iTunes Remote

The Remote should show the artwork if it is available and the Title, Artist and Record of the current playing music. The updates can take a few second after switching to the next song.

The refresh button sometime does show the artist when you click it. The stop sign can be used to stop the register remote proces.
