SI - Special Instruction. No gimmicks on SIs. Just do them. 3. Rallye Personnel - Do what they tell you and answer their questions. 4. Elvis says – When Elvis says things in a CMI part, the effects of his sayings have “Elvis says” precedence. The effects persist until cancelled or changed by another “Elvis says”. To clarify, if Elvis says “The sky is red ”, then the sky is red until “Elvis says” it isn’t. 5. GI - General Instruction. GIs are the two pages labeled GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS and are in effect now. 6. KING Sighting - Go L first opp (once only ) for each occurrence: Recording CM K A king from a deck of cards The word “ KING ” on a sign Finding ELVIS : The five letters E, L, V, I and S, in any order, being the first five letters of a word on a sign. GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

1958 (CMs) COURSEMARKERS A CM is a sign with a word, a number, and an image of a guitar. The start CM is valid. When you encounter a CM you believe to be valid, do the following steps: 1) Take out of effect the CMI in effect, if any. 2) Record the CM by writing its number on your scoresheet next to any spaces matching the word on the CM. 3) Bring into effect the SI or CMI on the COURSEMARKER PAGE matching the number just recorded. 4) After doing steps 1, 2 and 3, the guitar i mage no longer exists on that CM. Even-numbered CMs will eventually occur in even-numbered order along the route (2, 4, 6, 8, etc., through 22) , but they are not automatic credit, so be sure to encounter and record all eleven of them (CMs J through T , in any order) before executing RI 23. 1961 (CPs) CHECKPOINTS A CP is identified by a CP box similar to the good one at the start . Enter each CP by handing your scoresheet to CP personnel, who may ask you to name Elvis songs. Unless instructed otherwise, reply from this list: - - - To be added the day of the rallye - - -

Once you name a song at a CP, don’t say any of those words again at a CP, and those words no longer exist on signs. To clarify , if you say “Love Me Tender”, then don’t say “Love”, “Me” and/ or “Tender” again at any CP, and the words “Love”, “Me” and “Tender” do not exist on signs. 1964

ROUTE AND SIGNS All roads used will be paved and public. Driveways and parking lots exist only at the start, finish and checkpoints. Since we honor “ The King ” today, do not travel past any “Duke” , “Earl” and/or “Baron” sign . Valid signs are government -erected signs, rallye-erected signs and CP items as instructed. Do not look behind you to see sign s. Do not split words. The first word on each sign is the only word you can see on that sign . To clarify, on an “Old Oak Dr” sign , you can only see “ Old”. If “Old ” should no longer exist, you can only see “Oak”. RI’s using “at ” can only be executed where everything following “at ” in the RI appears on a sign. The exception to the preceding sentence is when T or STOP is used in an RI, in which case the RI is to be executed at a T or STOP as defined.

1967 CARS AND CARDS is selling a car , and we agreed to post a sign for her. It’s not a “ Pink Cadillac ” or a “ Long Black Limousine ”, and it’s not “ Too Much ”. Look for the sign on a power/utility pole while RI 13 is in effect. It will be the only non-CM, rallye-erected sign on the rallye. You will draw cards at CPs to eventually make a poker hand. There is an award for the best poker hand. In case of tie scores, t he better poker hand is the first tiebreaker . The second tiebreaker is the hand with more hearts. The third tiebreaker is a coin flip.
