Night & Day Cafe "Taste of the Manchester Music Scene"

A fixture of the live music scene in central Manchester for several years, Night and Day manages to juggle the concept of relaxed, jazzy café bar with full blown, small to medium-sized music venue surprisingly successfully. The feel is bohemian, with wooden benches, plenty of dark corners and a smoky ambiance adding to the effect. Evenings see a wide by Man Alive! variety of different musical styles with nights ranging from experimental events to local band showcases, from NME endorsed indie and rock bands to dance acts. The bar only serves bottled and canned beers or soft drinks during the evenings but there is a basic, good quality food menu including full breakfasts, burgers and sandwiches plus filter coffee in the noon.

The Printworks "Europe's First Urban Leisure Complex"

Created from the shell of a major national newspaper printers, Printworks is one of the latest redevelopments to be created in the wake of the 1996 IRA bomb. The building has been completely refurbished to provide what has been described as Europe's first major urban leisure and entertainment complex. Inside, there is over 350,000 square feet of floor by Gene Hunt space containing over 30 cafes and bars, 16 restaurants, a health and fitness center, and the only IMAX cinema in the region. The cobbled walkways and cavernous spaces create a strange, neon lit, almost futuristic atmosphere with massive flickering video screens and constant loud piped dance music.
