Bad Hofgastein is located in the Gastein valley in the countryside of Salzburg. It is the biggest village in the valley with around 7.000 inhabitants. A lot of tourists visit Bad Hofgastein for spa treatments and doing winter sports. With a big ski resort in the valley, it is part of the Ski Amadé network. In summer there are numerous possibilities to enjoy the beautiful mountain area. Hiking, mountain biking, rafting and canyoning are just a few ways to explore the nature. In the center of Bad Hofgastein you can find a pedestrian zone with a lot of restaurants, cafes and luxury boutiques. You can spot fountains which contain healthy water from thermal springs surrounded by historical buildings. Very important to discover in this area is the culture and local traditions as well as the delicious self-made products from the 120 farms located in Bad Hofgastein. It is definitely a place to relax while experiencing nature, adventure and the Alps.

There is no hotel in Bad Hofgastein which is situated more central than the Salzburgerhof. Directly located at the main square of Bad Hofgastein you will find the beautiful three star hotel. The rooms are modern, renovated and very spacious. The hotel is equipped with a restaurant named “Das FRANZ” where you are able to try the best traditional dishes. The legendary restaurant Bellevue Alm is located directly at the downhill-valley-station of the mountain Stubnerkogel. Due to that, breathtaking views of the beautiful mountain panorama as well as of Bad Gastein are guaranteed. In the year 1421 this mountain hut was mentioned for the first time, so it should be more than 600 years old! A chairlift takes all participants directly to the restaurant. The hut is stylishly furnished and the guests can find ancient logs, carvings as well as elaborately decorated furniture. It looks like straight out of a picture-book. Famous people from all over the world enjoy their stay at restaurant Bellevue Alm, therefore it sometimes is a film location for TV programs. The guests can relax while getting served traditional Austrian dishes. A wide range of wines is offered, for big and for small purses. Dining at Bellevue Alm really feels like being in paradise!

Equipped with a neoprene suit, life jacket, helmet and shoes the group fights against the wild water in between the gorges as a team. Feeling the power of the water is a real adrenaline kick. After around 1 ½ hours you will arrive at a grill site where you can enjoy a nice BBQ directly near the river. Afterwards, the tour will continue but the water gets quiet and the river is not a torrent anymore, the participants can relax on the boat and enjoy the beautiful nature and the great canyons. This rubber raft tour will be done on river Salzach with views of the stunning nature.

Austria is ideal to gain experiences in this wonderful water sport. The guests have to bring a towel and bathing clothes and must be able to swim.

The Gastein Alm is a restaurant located in Bad Hofgastein. You do not have to climb a mountain to reach this fantastic dining place. It is a meeting spot of both, locals as well as tourists and easily accessible by car. Gastein Alm consists of a building made of wood and natural stone. Because of the old edifice that is decorated with pictures of the historical town of Bad Hofgastein, the guests can enjoy a relaxing and welcoming atmosphere. Tradition and hospitality are put in the heart of their philosophy. Guests can choose between various kinds of dishes, all made of fresh, regional products of the Gastein valley. The focus of the restaurant is placed on Austrian delicacies. A great experience for all those who want to see nature, connected with some adrenaline. Canyoning is a mixture of hiking, climbing, swimming, jumping and rappelling. Equipped with a thick neoprene-suit with shoes, a helmet and a life jacket the participants walk in the flume and afterwards down the whole waterfall with a guide. Gliding down mountain streams, swimming through hidden ravines, jumping from ledges into green natural pools are just a few of the activities which are waiting for the team. Fun is guaranteed! At the tour, the participants have the chance to leave the canyon at several places and avoid passages that are too challenging for them. They can discover adventurous paths in Kaprun.

The guests have to bring a towel and bathing clothes and must be able to swim.

The Kitzsteinhorn is the highest mountain in the countryside of Salzburg. It is located in Kaprun. The summit is at 3.203 meters above sea level. In summer the mountain is still covered in snow because of the glacier and it is a very popular skiing area from early October to the start of summer. Guests can take a cable car up to 3.029 meters above sea level. There they find a viewing platform where they are able to see the marvelous mountain panorama around and the glacier. In this mountain area you can sometimes see the most famous Alpine animal the ibex. Furthermore, you can find eagles, marmots and sheep, which spend their summers on the mountains.

At the Weitmoserschlössl, the guests can experience the history of the Gastein valley. The unique atmosphere and historical ambience make the visit an unforgettable experience. Tradition, hospitality and history are lived in the restaurant. This makes the specialties of Salzburg even more tasty. Enjoy delicious beef of the own farm or tender venison from the own hunt. A selected Austrian wine of the castle’s own wine house complements the dinner. The Restaurant Weitmoserschlössl is reachable from the hotel by foot.

By visiting this place you will see Austria from a very traditional point of view. The first time this farm was mentioned was in 1488 – so it its more than 500 years old. Family Wallner lives at this farm since 1997 and they are producing local organic food. Guests have the possibility to taste the home-made products just as bread, bacon, cheese and Schnaps, which is an alcoholic speciality in Austria.
