1. Call to Order Commissioner Daniels called the meeting to order at 11:01 am.

2. Introductions The group all introduced themselves, where they are from, sports they are involved with and discussed what they would like to contribute and take away from this committee.

3. Initial Goals of Committee Committee members spoke about how they would like to see the tough conversations about race, diversity and equality continue throughout the conference, on their campuses as well as within their communities.

Planells mentioned it is important to have a connection with the diverse student population and student-athletes on each school’s campus.

Mascaro commented that the diversity group on Vanguard’s campus feels it is important to make sure those diverse individuals have that safe place to go.

Peters suggested the committee may want to work through a book. Be The Bridge is being read by Vanguard and Hope International diversity teams currently. Peters would like to see conversations taking place with individuals who may not come from a diverse background so they become aware of the different cultural backgrounds that exist.

Salgado suggested that people should venture outside their bubble and educate one another on diverse topics.

Zarate said she wants to make sure certain issues don’t get swept aside.

4. Current Issues / Initiatives During the next meeting the group will discuss prioritizing action items and review education pieces the group can use moving forward.

The group briefly discussed plans that student-athletes may have to protest during the national anthem and campus policies in regards to the anthem.

5. Website Informational Page Achay mentioned that the conference would like to build an I.D.E.A. committee page within the GSAC website. This page would house all meeting information and educational resources.

6. Future Meeting Dates Daniels mentioned Achay will create another doodle poll with the goal is to have
