10. Description and Purpose of Organization (Limit length to visible area) The Pikesville High Athletic Boosters, Inc. is an all volunteer non-profit organization. We support our athletic teams through the raising of funds and set goals to mirror those of our culturally diverse student body: have pride in your work, honor for yourself, and cultivate success on and off the athletic field. Our local rec council, the Greater Pikesville Rec Council (GPRC), also an all volunteer organization, is growing year over year and aspires to have a turf field, like so many other communities, to use as a "home" for outdoor rec programs. GPRC's purpose is to build public recreation programs and to offer leadership in coordinating those programs to obtain maximum benefit for our citizens. GPRC conducts these activities with very limited physical properties available in the area. 11. Description and Purpose of Project (Limit length to visible area) This bond would go towards installing a state of the art artificial turf field at Pikesville High School to replace the old and worn grass field. The new field will serve our student athletes, the growing rec programs and the local community. Turf fields are used 3-5 times more than natural fields as they are not impacted by weather. This would seriously reduce the amount of athletic and rec programs that are cancelled each season due to rain. In addition, the turf field would reduce the current maintenance expenses associated with attempting to make our old grass field playable and safe for our athletes. The artificial fields are also permanently lined to accommodate multiple sports with the ability to host tournaments which would bring in revenue for the school. In addition to the turf field, we are requesting the installation of permanent rest rooms. Currently, athletes and spectators are using spot-a-pots that are located under the bleachers, not great! Round all amounts to the nearest $1,000. The totals in Items 12 (Estimated Capital Costs) and 13 (Proposed Funding Sources) must match. The proposed funding sources must not include the value of real property unless an equivalent value is shown under Estimated Capital Costs.
