Vellinezhi Nanu Nair Smaraka Kalakendram is an institution functioning in the name of ever great Chuvanna Thadi Artiste of Kathakali, Vellinezhi Nanu Nair. It was established on September 9, 2001. The Kalakendram has maintained its humble services to the classical art forms of Kerala. This institution is run by elected members of the public according to the bye-laws. The function of the working committee is supervised by the renowned artistes in the field of performing arts. In 2008, on the occasion of its annual day celebration, Kalakendram organised Thaadiyarangu-2008. The programme that included all renowned Chuvanna Thaadi artistes has since went on to win international acclaim. Local About 5000 RELEVANCE- NO. OF PEOPLE (Local / National / International) PARTICIPATED EVENTS/PROGRAMS DESCRIPTION (How festival is celebrated) The festival begins with the inaugural ceremony in which famous artists in Kathakali take part. Seminars and cultural Seminar meetings are also held along with the festival. The artistes Kathakali Performances perform scenes inistead of entire stories. The festival was Cultural Meetings graced by performances from famous artists such as Honoring Ceremony Kalamandalam Gopi, Nelliyod Vasudevan Namboodiri, Thaadi Sadya Sadanam Krishnankutty Nair etc. Maestros are also honoured during the event. Many lovers of the performing art ensure their presence to enjoy the gracious expressions in the ambience of the art village..
