CE, Malabar Cements, Walayar The 6th of the meeting District Level Monitoring Committee (DLMC) was started at 3.00pm at Collectorate Conference Hall, Palakkad. The meeting was chaired by Sri. R.P Suresh, Additional District Magistrate (ADM), Palakkad. Sri Krishnan M.N, Environmental Engineer, Kerala State Pollution Control Board, Palakkad welcomed all the members of the DLMC and other participants and started the discussion on the agenda points. 1.Status of 100% door to do0or collection of solid establishnments. waste in households and other Sri. Ajith.K, Office of the Deputy Director of Panchayat, Palakkad Among the 88 Grama 7 Panchayats and Municipalities in the district, 67 Grama and all the Panchayats municipalities have started door already to door collection of solid waste. The total peroentage of door to door collection in households in the district is 58% and that in is 36%. establishments Grama Panchayats that have not started yet door to door collection in households Kuthanur, Agali, Pirayiri, Pudussery, Nelliyampathy and Pudur. Gram Panchayats that have attained 100% door to door collection in households Vaniyamkulam, Vellinezhi, Erimayur, Karimbuzha, Kongad, Kumaramputhur, Mundur, Thachampara, Thrithala, Sreckrishnapuram. Grama Panchayats that have not yet started door to door collection in establishments - Piriyari, Pudussery, Kuthanur, Nelliyampathy, Pudur, Nagalassery, Thirumittacode. Vallapuzha, Perumatty, Pudunagaram, Alanallur, Koppam, Kottopadam, Thrithala, Vaniyamkulam. They have covered 6257 households and 827 establishment in the municipality. They have covered 90% households and 70% establishments. Planning to collect wet waste also. The site selected to treat and dispose wet solid waste is under negotiation 2.Ouantity of collection &treatment of dry/wet solid waste Sri. Krishnan M.N , Environmental Engineer, Kerala State Pollution Control Board, Palakkad As per the instruction of Hon'ble Green Tribunal , local bodies have to keep a record on the quantity of solid waste collected in their MCFs. A weighing machine has to be kept in all the MCFs. The quantity of solid waste that can be reprocessed, land filled and used for power generation are to be separately calculated in tons. Sri. There are 7 thumburmuzhy units at various places in the municipality that can collect an average of 350kg of waste. The wet waste is processed in the composting plant. Other waste are handed over to Clean Kerala Company. There is a gap between the data presented by local body authorities and data calculated by Suchitwa Mission. This may be due to the decrease in generation of waste during COVID-19 pandemic. 3.Construction and Demolition waste facility- progress Sri.
