[email protected] Trappers Community Partnerships Community partnerships are integral to our successful academies, as students are provided with mentorship from a variety of different athletic professionals. Our current partnerships include: Keyano Huskies Volleyball and Basketball Athletes Alberta Sport Development Coaches (ASDC Trainers) MacDonald Island Swim instructors Fort McMurray Minor Baseball Development Coordinator Bowman’s Martial Arts Instructors Premier Academy Cheer and Tumble BADMINTON Academy Registration open to grades 7 - 12 academy cap - 24 students Badminton Academy runs two mornings a week at Father Mercredi School from 7:30am - 8:30am. Student athletes work on fundamental skill development and instructors: conditioning, as well as enhancing their Vaughn Slaney knowledge of Badminton. All skill levels welcome. Availability: TBA COST: $350.00 BADMINTON BASEBALL Academy Registration open to grades 7 - 12 academy cap - 32 students For Middle School, Baseball Academy runs during two afternoon blocks. Specific times are being determined under the conditions set out by our rental facilities and the Alberta instructors: Health Services Guidelines. For High School, it runs every day during Block 2. Students Brent Easton are transported via bus to Ross Hennigar Adem Campbell Baseball Field (fall and spring) and MacDonald Island (winter). Middle School students Availability: work on fundamental skill development and conditioning. High School students work TBA on enhancing their knowledge of baseball and continue working on skill development COST: and conditioning. Our High School Baseball Academy students earn their PE 10 and $1400.00 CTS credits necessary for graduation. All skill levels welcome. BASketBALL Academy Registration open to grades 7 - 9 academy cap - 24 students Basketball Academy runs during two afternoon blocks. Specific times are being determined under the conditions set out by our rental facilities and the Alberta instructors: Health Services Guidelines. Students will Catherine Pate be transported via bus to Syncrude Sport and Wellness Centre, where they will work with their teachers and Keyano Athletes on Availability: skill development and fitness conditioning. All skill levels are welcome. TBA COST: $700.00 BASketBALL Cheer Academy Registration open to grades 7 - 9 Registration open to grades 7 - 12 academy cap - 24 students academy cap - 24 students Cheerleading Academy runs during two afternoon blocks. Specific times are being determined under the conditions set out by our rental facilities and the Alberta instructors: Health Services Guidelines. Students are transported via bus to the Premier Academy Kierra Peltz Facility. With collaboration with the owner of Premier Academy Cheer and Tumble, student athletes learn introductory cheerleading Availability: skills and work through a detailed plan to help develop the skills necessary to compete TBA throughout the school year. Our High School Cheerleaders earn their PE 10 and CTS COST: credits necessary for graduation. Students who register for this Academy are given a $1400.00 25% discount off monthly membership fees. All skill levels welcome. Hockey Academy Registration open to grades 7 - 9 academy cap - 40 students Registration open to grades 7 - 12 Hockey Academy runs during two afternoon academy cap - 24 students blocks or two morning blocks (depending on the grade). Specific times are being determined under the conditions set out by instructors: our rental facilities and the Alberta Health Liam Morrison Services Guidelines. Students will walk to Vaughn Slaney the Casman Centre, where they retrieve their equipment from a heated Sea Can. Availability: Our student athletes work on strength conditioning, skill development and have TBA opportunities to work with mentors from the Fort McMurray Oil Barons to enhance COST: their understanding of fundamental skills. $1400.00 All skill levels welcome. Martial Registration open to grades 7 - 9 ArtsAcademy academy cap - 40 students Registration open to grades 7 - 12 academy cap - 24 students Martial Arts Academy runs two mornings instructors: a week at Father Mercredi School from 7:30am - 8:30am. Student athletes work Craig Hillier with Craig Hillier and Sandy Bowman Sandy Bowman to develop mixed martial arts skills, self defense and fitness conditioning. High Availability: School Martial Arts students earn PE 10 credits, necessary for graduation. Students TBA who participate in Father Mercredi Martial Arts Academy are given access to COST: other training opportunities and classes $850.00 at Bowman’s Mixed Martial Arts Studio. All skill levels welcome. SoccerAcademy Registration open to grades 7 - 9 academy cap - 24 students Soccer Academy runs during two afternoon blocks in both the fall and spring. This academy is taught on Father Mercredi Field. Students work on fundamental skill instructors: development and conditioning, as well Michael Hull as enhancing their knowledge of Soccer All skill levels welcome Availability: TBA COST: $350.00 Swim Academy Registration open to grades 7 - 9 Registration open to grades 7 - 12 academy cap - 24 students academy cap - 18 students For Middle School, Swim Academy runs during two morning blocks. Specific times are being determined under the conditions set out by our rental facilities and the Alberta instructors: Health Services Guidelines. Students will Chuck Nelson be transported via bus to MacDonald Island MacIsland Aquatics Centre where they will meet their Swim Instructors swim instructors. Students work on stroke Availability: correction and endurance, as well as, work towards earning their Lifesaving Society TBA Bronze Certification, First Aid Awards and Red Cross Assistant Lifeguard Award. The courses COST: provides students with an opportunity to be $1400.00 hired at the aquatic centre at MacDonald Island. All skill levels welcome. Volleyball Academy Registration open to grades 7 - 9 academy cap - 24 students Volleyball Academy runs during two afternoon blocks. Specific times are being determined under the conditions set out by our rental facilities and the Alberta instructors: Health Services Guidelines. Students will be Colleen Melnychuk transported via bus to Syncrude Sport and Keyano Huskies Wellness Centre, where they will work with Athletes their teacher and Keyano Athletes on skill Availability: development and fitness conditioning. All skill levels welcome. TBA COST: $700.00 Schedule MIDDLE SCHOOL Academies are optional programs that replace a number of student electives, depending on the Academy selected . Specifics regarding student timetables Registration open to grades 7 - 9 are subject to change as more information regarding Facility Rentals become available. Fees associated with Academies offset the cost of transportation, academy cap - 24 students facility rentals, equipment and apparel. For more information, please contact the Administration at Father Mercredi. HIGH SCHOOL Students registered in an academy will participate in their academy during second block (before lunch). Scheduling may require a meeting with student services and/or a grade level administrator. Registration & finacial support Registration can be made in person in the main office or over the phone with the Father Mercredi Business Manager.
