NTVB Media Has Been in Business Since 1983 NTVB History – NTVB Media has been in business since 1983. What began as a small local commercial printer became a large regional printer, and one of the largest providers of TV magazines delivered free to sub- scribers by the newspaper industry. At one time, NTVB printed 5,000,000 TV magazines a week for many of the country’s largest newspapers, including the Chicago Tribune, Newsday, Newark Star Ledger, Cleveland Plain Dealer, and many others. NTVB began publishing TV Weekly in 2009. TV Weekly – A new national TV listings magazine, it is quickly becoming the preferred choice for newspa- pers seeking a way to generate new revenue without the negative impact of charging readers for what has been a regular part of the weekend newspaper package. It also offers advertisers a high quality and uniform ad vehicle to reach a very specific demographic. The TV Weekly business model completely eliminates the costs and ongoing losses typically incurred with traditional newspaper TV supplements while generating greater satisfaction for those readers who prefer to receive their TV listings in print. TV Weekly pays their newspaper distribution partners to deliver the magazine to subscribers, much like the arrangement many papers have with the Wall Street Journal. NTVB MEDIA NTVB TV Weekly’s listings are localized on city-by-city basis. The mission of this glossy 44-page magazine is to as- sist readers of partnering newspapers to quickly and easily identify what’s on TV in their specific area. With expanding digital channels, new networks and multiple cable/ satellite providers, comprehensive print TV listings continue to be one of the most popular weekend features. In fact, research indicates that a TV mag- azine is one of the reasons that readers cite for buying a Sunday paper. Since its debut in late 2009, more than 90 newspapers have partnered with TV Weekly to benefit both their subscribers and their own bottom line. The growing list of papers include the Los Angeles Times, Philadelphia Inquirer, Boston Globe, Detroit Free Press, Dallas Morning News, Houston Chronicle, Charlotte Observer, Minneapolis Star Tribune, San Diego Times-Union, Portland Oregonian and Seattle Times. Frank (William H. Macy) sees financial opportunity in campaigning and gives voice to the underrepresented South Side working man. Fiona (Rossum) tries to build on her success with her apartment building and takes an expensive gamble hoping to catapult herself into the upper echelon. Meanwhile, Lip (Jeremy Allen White) distracts himself from the challenges of sobriety by taking in Eddie's niece, Xan (Scarlet Spencer). Ian (Cameron Monaghan) faces the consequences of his crimes as the Gay Jesus movement takes a destructive turn. Debbie (Emma Kenney) fights for equal pay and combats harassment; and her efforts lead her to an unexpected realization. Carl (Ethan Cutkosky) sets his sights on West Point and prepares himself for cadet life. Liam (Christian Isaiah) must develop a new skillset to survive outside of his cushy private school walls. • Movie Review: ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp’
Movie Review: ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp’ NEW YORK — There’s plenty of humor and action in the fast-paced sci-fi adventure “Ant-Man and the Wasp” (Disney). What’s noticeably lacking is any exposition or guidance for those not already familiar with the characters and their relationships from 2015’s “Ant-Man” and 2016’s “Captain America: Civil War.” While the film can still be enjoyed on its own, newcomers will feel somewhat left out as a result. One example of the potential confusion awaiting novices is the fact that, when we first encounter him, Scott Lang aka Ant-Man (Paul Rudd, who also co-wrote the script) is approaching the end of a two-year sentence of house arrest. That’s the consequence, we learn, at least by implication, of his activities in the latter of the two previous movies. But specifics on what exactly he did are not shared. Whatever his wrongdoing, Scott — whose alter ego, thanks to a high-tech suit, can shrink or grow at will — is now anxious to focus on serving his time and raising his young daughter, Cassie (Abby Ryder Fortson). Scott’s good resolutions are undermined, however, when his predecessor as Ant- Man, Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), and Pym’s daughter, Hope (Evangeline Lilly), aka the Wasp, draw him into their quest to rescue Hope’s mother, Janet (Michelle Pfeiffer), the original Wasp. Janet been stuck for decades in the Quantum Realm, a kind of subatomic limbo. To retrieve her, the trio will have to do battle with two principal enemies: Sonny Burch (Walton Goggins), a petty gangster out to profit from Pym’s technological breakthroughs, and Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen), a victim of Pym’s past misdeeds.

BAMBACH has been approved for the School of Film and the College of Fine Arts by Ofer Eliaz Assistant Professor of Film Elizabeth Sayrs Interim Dean, College of Fine Arts 3 ABSTRACT BAMBACH, NICHOLAS D., M.A., August 2016, Film In the Company of Modern Men: Representations of Masculinity in Contemporary Hollywood Comedies Director of Thesis: Ofer Eliaz This thesis discusses the increasing visibility of masculine identity in contemporary Hollywood comedies. I examine how shifting developments in economic, societal, cultural, and gender relations impacted the perception of cinematic masculinity. The men, more specifically white and heterosexual, in these films position themselves as victims and, as a result, turn to alternative outlets to ease their frustrations and anxieties. In order to broadly survey the genre of the past two decades, I focus on three consistently popular character tropes in Hollywood comedies: slackers, office workers, and bromantic friendships. All the male characters discussed throughout the thesis are plagued by their innermost anxieties and desires that compromise their gendered identities. However, these films resort to a regressive understanding of masculinity and functions within the dominant heteronormative structures. This thesis demonstrates how Hollywood comedies present a contradictory and multifaceted image of modern masculinity.
