Nick came to Pennine Lancashire in 1990, since when both Mid Pennine Arts and the area have been through some big changes. Nick grew up in the flatlands - school in Cambridge, a student in Norwich - and then spent the seven years of his first arts job helping establish the Norwich Arts Centre in a redundant mediaeval church. He worked for a few other arts agencies around East Anglia and then migrated north-west, getting to know Liverpool (the Everyman), Nottingham (the Festival) and Manchester (the Green Room) before settling here in the hills. Nick is responsible for leading the Mid Pennine Arts team and for overseeing all aspects of its work. Much of his time is spent on representing MPA and making connections - building partnerships and identifying the best opportunities for projects. Of late, this has meant putting the arts at the heart of regeneration and renewal for Pennine Lancashire. The recently Andy Holt, the proprietor of The Real Black completed Panopticons project was a labour of love for Nick and he has been absolutely thrilled both Pudding Co., was made as a Chevalier du Gôute- by the creative results and by the national and international attention that the project has brought to Boudin (Knight of the Black Pudding) in 1998.
