Andy Holt Nick Hunt R S Ireland Director of Mid Pennine Arts The Real Lancashire Black Pudding Co. Nick came to Pennine Lancashire in 1990, since when both Mid Pennine Arts and the area have been through some big changes.

Nick grew up in the flatlands - school in Cambridge, a student in Norwich - and then spent the seven years of his first arts job helping establish the Norwich Arts Centre in a redundant mediaeval church. He worked for a few other arts agencies around East Anglia and then migrated north-west, getting to know Liverpool (the Everyman), Nottingham (the Festival) and (the Green Room) before settling here in the hills.

Nick is responsible for leading the Mid Pennine Arts team and for overseeing all aspects of its work. Much of his time is spent on representing MPA and making connections - building partnerships and identifying the best opportunities for projects.

Of late, this has meant putting the arts at the heart of regeneration and renewal for Pennine Lancashire. The recently Andy Holt, the proprietor of The Real Black completed Panopticons project was a labour of love for Nick and he has been absolutely thrilled both Pudding Co., was made as a Chevalier du Gôute- by the creative results and by the national and international attention that the project has brought to Boudin (Knight of the Black Pudding) in 1998. Open to the public from 2pm Festival Launch - plus ‘All Made Here’ exhibition Blackburn Museum & Art Gallery, Museum Street, Blackburn, BB1 7AJ

Sponsored by Stanley House, Mellor

Come along to discover more about the arts in Pennine Lancashire and the Festival of Food & Culture. Blackburn Museum and Art Gallery is situated in a beautiful Victorian building in the town centre and best known for being a treasure house of the Hart bequest. Hart’s gift of coins, manuscripts and books cannot be matched by any public collection outside London and give the museum its international reputation. “Blackburn and Darwen may be best known for cotton, but this exhibition shows that there was much more to the towns than textiles. Taking a fresh look at some of our non-textile industries, ‘All Made Here’ brings together original artefacts and newly recorded oral histories to find out just what it was like to work for such big names as Mullards, Northrop, Walpamur and Shaws.” Sample fine wines and speciality tapas bites with a Lancastrian twist. Festival staff will be on hand to provide information, provide tickets for events and distribute free festival brochures. Free admission to the museum.
