OVERVIEW OF AREA RESPONSIBILITIES Academic Success Office: The Student-Athlete Academic Success Office works closely with the administration, coaching staff, and student-athletes to monitor and assist in the academic activities of all student-athletes. The services offered to all student-athletes include registration assistance, academic counseling, monitoring of athletic academic eligibility (progress toward degree), study hall and problem-solving related to those areas. The Academic Success staff also instructs the FYE 108 (First Year Experience) course as well as coordinates CHAMPS/Life Skills events. Business Office: The Business Office serves as the financial office for the Department of Athletics, and is primarily responsible for maintaining financial records of all purchases and disbursements and for ensuring adherence to budget guidelines and requirements. Compliance Office: The major areas of responsibility within the Compliance Office are rules interpretations, NCAA infractions investigations and reporting, recruiting oversight, monitoring of practice and competition schedules, and oversight of student-athlete amateurism, eligibility, and financial aid requirements. Development Office: The Blue and Gold Club is the fundraising arm of the Department of Athletics in conjunction with the University Development and Alumni office includes but is not limited to major gifts, the annual fund drive, endorsements, scholarships, restricted and non-restricted giving, and special events, such as the annual Women’s Walk, Reverse Raffle, Hall of Fame Celebration and Bear Tour Golf Tournaments. Equipment Operations: The Equipment Office provides each student-athlete with all of the safe equipment and services they need to participate and succeed in the University of Northern Colorado intercollegiate athletic programs. These services extend to all areas of practice, game day, travel, laundry, inventory, repair, and procurement and purchasing. Events and Facilities Office: The Events and Facilities Department seeks to create a safe, comfortable, and enjoyable sports & entertainment experience for all athletic events including practices that are hosted by the University of Northern Colorado. The Department is responsible for coordinating all aspects relating to athletic events and facilities, including scheduling facilities and coordinating game day logistics. Communications Department: The Communications Department serves as liaison between the Department of Athletics’ administration, coaches and student-athletes and the local, state and national media. The department’s goal is to facilitate the requests of Department of Athletics’ officials and student-athletes as well as print and electronic media in order to ensure the best possible media coverage of Northern Colorado’s intercollegiate sports. The department also serves as the chief public relations branch of Northern Colorado Athletics and administers the department’s web site. Sports Medicine Office: The Sports Medicine Department provides student-athletes with the highest quality health care possible and prides itself on maintaining the health and safety of its student-athletes.
