LEGO® ROBOTICS MACHINES: 2:20-3:20 Cost: $135 Explore the fascinating world of robotics, related careers, and program-ming by building and programming a variety of robotic machines. Students will build and program a forklift, Segway, and explorer.

VIDEO GAME DESIGN: 4:00-5:00 (Taught by Learn to Discover) ***Cost: $135 Students will use a variety of software programs to design and program their own video game. Students will explore the art of planning the game, programming it, learn some basic terminology, and practice problem- solving and critical thinking skills. They will then share and play each other's games.

Running Club with Matt King and Darrell Steely The Running Club will be a way for runners of all levels (beginners to cross country stars) to get together and run. The goals of this class is to inspire running, improve fitness, reduce stress, and have fun. It is a great opportunity for athletes of any sport (Track, Soccer, Football, etc) to maintain or improve their fitness in the offseason. This program will meet in front of the gym Monday, Wednesdays and Fridays from 3- 3:45. Unless noted, all runs will be from the school and weather permitting.

Taekwondo with Mrs. Teresa Langford Through the practice of basic kicking and hand techniques, the participants are not judged by how fast they learn, how high they jump or how strong they kick or punch. This Taekwondo class offers a stress-free environment to improve the participants’ focus and confidence, physical balance, and co-ordination. Practice includes kicking, blocking, striking and punching against a kicking shield and a target paddle. No additional equipment or uniform is necessary. Wear comfortable clothing. Mrs. Langford, 4 th degree Black Belt, teaches at the Naval Postgraduate School Taekwondo Club and the River School Taekwondo after- school program.

Introductory Cooking & Baking class-Taught by Alondra Klemek. **Fee $120 class is 1.5 hours (material fee $45) This class will introduce kids to basic cooking and baking techniques and recipes and kitchen safety tips. Recipes will be from scratch, including use of seasonal ingredients. Learn quick and healthy meal ideas, and quick baking tricks and recipes, including pizza, pretzels, tamales and cakes, as well as some cake/cupcake decorating.

Golf with Travis McCrabe (At Rancho Canada Golf Course) Welcome to the Carmel Middle School Golf Class! This 1-hour class will teach you most importantly the fun of the game of golf, the fundamentals of the game ~ putting, short game, long game, and course management taught by Carmel Middle Coach Travis McCabe. Coach Travis is a PGA Head Golf Professional who's 10+ years of experience in Junior Golf all over the country can help all students who are looking for development of their skills and abilities as well as students who are looking for enjoyment in an outside setting. If you're looking for a game you can play for the rest of your life and a game that has more scholarships than any other sport at the collegiate level, this class is for you! If you don't have golf clubs, please contact Coach Travis and there can be clubs made available. Class Times are on Tuesdays 3:30-4:30 for 8 weeks and will meet at the Rancho Canada Clubhouse. Art 4 Fun with Mr. Fosler (S-4) (Material fee $10) No background in art? No problem! This project-based class does a wide variety of activities that require no experience- you’ll learn everything you need right on the spot. The emphasis is on having fun, experimenting with a range of techniques (drawing, painting, stencils, collage, etc.) and materials. You’ll learn a lot and take home a stack of cool artwork!

Tennis with Bruce Haase (tennis courts) For those learning the game, wanting to build on their proficiency and skills and not yet playing matches consistently. Balls provided. Some racquets available. Bruce has taught tennis for over 35 years, is a USPTA professional and has managed tennis programs around the world. Students need to wear tennis shoes / sneakers and wear clothes that are comfortable to run around in, preferably in layers due to different weather conditions over the session. Students should also bring water and a racquet, although some water and additional racquets will be available. The balls for use in the class are provided. A back-up plan for inclement weather will be provided at the beginning of the session.

Creative Cutting Boards with Mr. Ishler $20 material fee

Creating functional artwork that can be used on a daily basis in the home. Learn some woodworking techniques while having fun creating some awesome kitchen utensils. No experience NEEDED!!

Creative Paper Collage with Lisa Handley Materials Fee $25 Students will explore a variety of collage techniques using torn and cut paper, found materials and mixed media to create a , abstract, still life, landscape, an ATC (artist trading card), an art journal page and notecards. One week will also be devoted to creating a collaged card as a valuable tool for self-awareness and expression. Lisa Handley, local Plumeria Papercraft artist and instructor and trained SoulCollage(R) facilitator, will guide and encourage students as they enjoy these fun paper collage projects each week.

Nightingale’s Nest: ***Fee $120 class is 1.5 hours Material fee $6 Do any of these activities make you want to flap your wings? Looking under microscopes, just for the fun of it, scavenger hunts, birding competitions, pond water chemistry and exploration, plant pressing, nature art , movies and hot cocoa on a cold winter day. If so, come join Nightingale’s flock and have some fun.

Printmaking Wow! –*****Fee$120 class is 1.5 hours $20 materials fee

When you make a print, there is an element of surprise that keeps you coming back for more! We will explore a few easy printmaking techniques with water-based inks that you could even do at home. You don't need expensive equipment to print, and it's so much fun. Just come with your ideas and see where they lead!
