Reno has not lost in its past seven USL matches and will aim to grab a Top 8 spot after Saturday’s match, which kicks off at 7:15 p.m. Reno currently sits in 10th in the West (14 points) while San Antonio is in 8th with the same amount of points. Reno is coming off a 1-0 loss to Sacramento Republic FC in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup on Wednesday. Reno drew in its last USL regular season match against Seattle Sounders 2, 1-1. Reno’s recent run has seen the club go from the bottom of the table to the cusp of playoff position. San Antonio is undefeated in its past five matches, coming off a 1-1 draw against Tulsa Rougnecks FC. Despite losing dangerous forward Billy Forbes, San Antonio has remained one of the most lethal teams in the USL. While a majority of the scoring has been spread out, Mikey Lopez leads San Antonio with two goals. Following Saturday night’s match, fans will be treated to post-match fireworks. Valencia is a product of the San Jose Earthquakes Academy and signed his first professional contract with Reno Monday. “We’re really excited to sign Ivan, who’s been a key part of the Earthquakes youth academy,” Reno head coach Ian Russell said. “He’s a technical, hard worker and has shown that over the past few years both with San Jose and when he’s been down here in Reno training with us. “It’s nice to see his hard work lead to a position with our team.” Valencia, a native of Guadalajara, Mexico, has been one of the premier academy players in the MLS. Primarily playing defensive midfielder, Valencia is capable of playing both holding and attacking midfield positions. He’s played in Europe with fellow MLS academy players against Bayern Munich and even trained with the Argentinian national team with world superstar Leo Messi. Asked about signing his first contract as a pro, Valencia said he’s grateful for the support he’s received from both San Jose and Reno. “I’m very excited to get this opportunity and it’s something I’ve always dreamed of,” Valencia said. “I feel like the relationship between and Reno and San Jose has helped me develop, especially practicing with (Reno’s) first team. 11 RISING PROSPECT VALENCIA SIGNS WITH RENO “Last year I came to Reno for a week and really liked it. He added two goals in his 20 starts. In 2016, Carrol earned Second Team All-USL honor with NY Red Bulls II, where he helped the club win the 2016 USL Cup. During the season, Janjigian was called up to play with Re- no’s Major League Soccer affiliate, the San Jose Earthquakes in their U.S. Open Cup victory over the San Francisco Deltas. Janjigian also played in the Earthquakes’ friendly against Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt. In 2016, he was named Swope’s Offensive Player of the Year, with 12 goals as a rookie. While his time at Swope, he was called up to the Canadian U-23 team for matches against Uzbekistan and Qatar. The South American native, added three assists while boasting an 86 percent pass success rate in his 22 starts. Mfeka helped Reno 1868 FC clinch a playoff spot and set a new USL record for most goals in a single season with his first career hat trick. HEIGHT: 5’5’’ WEIGHT: 155 LBS DOB: 3/30/94 16 TEAM #12 Danny Musovski (f) Musovski, 22, was selected by San Jose with the 30th overall pick out of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He was a four-year starter and two- time All-America selection for UNLV. During his senior season in 2017, he scored 15 goals and added six assists in 16 appearances, earning Third Team All-America and Western Athletic Confer- ence Offensive Player of the Year honors. HEIGHT: 6’1’’ WEIGHT: 185 LBS DOB: 9/10/92 #13 Darwin Espinal (M) Espinal, 22, is a dynamic, pacey midfielder who most recently played for the South Florida Surf, a club in the Premier Development League (PDL). The Honduran international is not new to the USL scene as he played for the Tampa Bay Rowdies during the 2015-16 season scoring four goals. He scored two goals in 2017 for Reno.
