Euro-Eze IITM Template Instructions SKU #951-632

The Euro- drilling template is designed to locate the cup and mounting holes for Blum pattern hinges. It uses a 1-3/8” Forstner bit and #3 Forstner SlipStopTM to bore the cup hole and a self-centering bit to the screw holes. A total of eight tab widths (2.5, 3, 3.5, 4, 4.5, 5, 5.5 and 6mm) can be achieved with the Euro-Eze IITM Drilling Tem- plate. The tab widths are achieved by fastening the on the stop block in the proper orientation and by fastening the stop block to the proper side of the template. Below are detailed instructions for the Euro-Eze IITM.

Assembly of Clamp to Stop Block Determine the required tab width for the hinges you are installing. Fasten clamp to the stop block using the four 6-32x 5/16” screws provided. Position clamp so that the text on the stop block indicating the desired tab width is closest to the rubber pad of the clamp. One side is for the nominal tab widths of 3, 4, 5, and 6mm. The other side of the block is for fractional tab widths of 2.5, 3.5, 4.5, and 5.5mm. Figure 1 typifies clamp mounting for 3, 4, 5 or 6mm tab widths. Figure 1. Assembly of Clamp

Assembly of Template to Stop Block Using the text on top of the template, position the block on the side of the template that corresponds to the required tab width. Fasten the template to the stop block using the two 8- 32 x 3/4” screws. For example, if a 3mm tab width is re- quired, place the block on the side of the template marked 3mm. See Figure 2. If you need a fractional tab width (e.g. 2.5, 3.5, 4.5, 5.5mm), the block should be placed on the side of the template marked 3mm for a 2.5mm tab width, 4mm for a 3.5mm tab, 5mm for a 4.5mm tab and 6mm for a 5.5mm tab.

Figure 2. Assembly of Stop Block Install Template Plugs Plugs are provided to eliminate the possibility of drilling the wrong screw holes and to provide a flat surface for the SlipStopTM to contact. Locate the two holes marked with the appropriate tab width for the hinge you are installing. Insert plugs in all holes except for the two marked with the appropriate tab width. These holes will be used to locate the mounting holes for the hinge. For example, if you are using a hinge that requires a 3mm tab width, place plugs in all holes except the two marked with a “3”. See Figure 3.

1 Set Drill Depth for Cup Hole The Forstner SlipStopTM will serve as a depth stop for the Forstner bit so the cup hole is drilled to the correct depth. Place Forstner SlipStopTM on Forstner bit. Clamp template on a piece of scrap and insert bit into center hole of template. Press bit into bore completely so that tip of forstner bit penetrates wood before activating the drill. This is critical so that template is not damaged while drilling the hole. Position Forstner SlipStopTM on bit so that the space between the SlipStopTM and top of template is slightly greater than the hinge cup height. Drill hole until Forstner SlipStopTM contacts template. Allow bit to come to a complete stop before removing. Insert hinge into cup hole. If necessary, adjust position of SlipStopTM so hinge sets completely into hole. See Figure 4. Figure 4. Setting Cup Depth

Position Template on Door Mark vertical position of hinge on inside of the cabinet door. Place template on door so that vertical position mark on cabinet door intersects point of triangular cutout. Verify that stop block is against door edge and clamp template on door. Some adjustment of the clamp pad may be neces- sary. Be careful not to put excessive pressure on clamp or damage to the template will result. See Figure 5.

Drill Cup Hole After setting proper cup drilling depth, insert bit into center hole of template. Be sure to press bit into bore completely so that tip of bit penetrates wood before activating the drill. This will guide the bit and prevent damage to the template. Drill hole until Forstner SlipStopTM contacts template. Do not remove bit while it is rotating. Allow bit to come to a complete stop before removing. See Figure 6.

Figure 6. Drilling Cup Hole Drill Mounting holes Using a self-centering bit, drill the two mounting holes using the two holes in the template that are not plugged. See Figure 7. Remove template from door. Place hinge in cup hole and secure using screws. Installation of the hinge cup is complete!
