The Directory is produced by the Bureau of Criminal Justice Statistical Services under a cooperative agreement with the United States Department of Justice's Bureau of Justice Statistics. The purpose of the agreement is to improve the transfer and communication of criminal justice ffiformation between federal, state, local, and private criminal justice organizations. This Directory is intended to provide concise and useable address listings of major criminal justice agencies in the State. In addition to addresses, telephone numbers and the names of the agency Director (with the exception of judges under the court listings) are provided for each organization. This edition includes four new listings of Railroad Police Departments, Other Law Enforcement Agencies, Stop DWI Programs and the New York City Department of Probation. The listings are divided into eight major categories: Law Enforcement (updated through March 10, 1993), Prosecution and Defense, Courts, Probation, Youth, Corrections, Parole and State Level Criminal Justice Agencies. These are further subdivided where appropriate. Note that Sheriff Departments are listed in the Law Enforcement category even though most operate correctional facilities at the county level. Within sub-categories, agencies are listed alphabetically; State Police Troop Headquarters are listed alphabetically by the troop letter designation. 1 2 ---------- LAW ENFORCEMENT 3 4 -- ------ ASSOCIATIONS NEW YORK.
