Nepal now has its first online radio. But is the radio’s evolution relevant to our times when the television and even gadgets have reserved slots in our daily schedules, and on-the-go entertainment that we can pick and choose at leisure has redefined entertainment itself. We cash in with the fact that so many people hours are spent on the internet these days. When they log on to RVL Radio they can simply listen to songs in the background while investing their time on the internet. Also I believe RVL First of all, when you talk about has some very experienced people and relevance, most of the other kept in mind the celebrity factor. This is entertainment sources are foreign another attraction. Plus from my personal channels. 7 8 9 Play to Break Free 8 March, Alliance Française Saathi and Burns Violence Survivor’s Nepal (BVSN) in collaboration with Alliance Française teamed up to celebrate International Women’s Day. The event opened with a theatrical performance “Paru ko Katha”.The play was presented in the form of the theatre of the oppressed to spread word of knowledge and awareness. The plot tried to explore themes of violence against women that involved ostracizing women bearing girl child, husbands bringing in another wife to get a son, rape inside one’s own domestic sphere, objectifying women as a source of entertainment and reproduction. A woman exploiting the rights of another woman was the other major theme. Sulakshana Rana, program coordinator at Saathi who is also involved with BVSN, says that women have internalized the notion of exploitation towards them since their birth as a part of growing up and they seldom realize that they are being wronged. The play was followed by a talk program highlighting issues concerning women, poem recital by Rasta KC, survivor of burn violence, Mina - a documentary, and a live performance by Nattu Shah. 1.
