In the summer of 1980, a group of Nashville friends, led by Tennessean critic Homer Blitch and businessman Thomas J. Milam, were looking for a new and entertaining way to raise funds for charity. Inspiration struck, and the friends decided to host an auction of their favorite wines. Nashville Wine Auction remains focused on its mission of uniting the wine community to fund the fight against cancer. 5 | Our Mission Our Beneficiaries Since Nashville Wine Auction’s inception in 1980, more than $26 million has been raised for organizations whose purpose is directly related to patient care, treatment, and the eradication of cancer. Much of the costs to produce the auction are underwritten by corporate sponsors. Individuals, wine producers and other businesses donate auction items, with the single objective of generating as much money as possible for cancer related programs. He is also a Senior Wine Specialist and Auctioneer at Zachys Wine Auctions where in 2019 he was responsible for the consignment of over $3.5m of fine wine in New York and Hong Kong. Prior to Zachys he was both a commercial auctioneer and charity auctioneer at Christie’s for nearly a decade. Senior Wine Specialist He has auctioneered hundreds of benefits and Auctioneer at over the past decade including The Clinton Zachys Wine Auctions Foundation, the TJ Martell Foundation, Breakthrough, GenYOUth, and more. Bolus attended Le Cordon Bleu in London where he earned both the Diplôme de Cuisine as well as the Diplôme de Pâtisserie, and he received the Grand Diplôme in 2003. Before moving to Nashville, Chef Bolus Executive Chef of worked as a butcher and fishmonger at FIG The 404 Kitchen in Charleston, SC, and at sous chef stations at The Ocean Room at The Sanctuary Hotel No. of Years at Pairings in Kiawah Island, SC, and Little Star in as Master of Ceremonies: 2 Knoxville, TN. From the pressures of the kitchen to budgeting, forecasting and pricing, every aspect of the job leaves him fulfilled and excited. Bolus takes a hands on approach to his cuisine, insisting upon seeing, smelling and tasting every ingredient that comes through the door. This enthusiasm has led to great success in his culinary career, and he counts as his greatest professional success the restaurant’s 2014 James Beard nomination for Best New Restaurant for The 404 Kitchen. When he is away from the restaurant, Bolus treasures time spent with his wife Kelly, his beautiful baby girl Delaney Gray, and their two dogs and a cat. Originally, they planned on this site as an equestrian ranch, but Bob Ackerman was encouraged by both Robert Mondavi and Bill Phelps to launch a wine brand. He knew he had to make changes in the vineyard as the old Lauren Ackerman, vines were succumbing to phylloxera. So, Owner/President they completely replanted and expanded the existing vineyards becoming the first Kristie Fundario, certified organic vineyard in Coombsville in 2009.
