Simplified Notes for Jehoiada Chart

1. Judah is the name of the tribes of Judah and Benjamin God loved for the coming King Jesus.

2. Israel is the other ten tribes God despised and scattered through the earth by the Assyrians.

3. The split between the twelve tribes of Israel took place under Solomon’s son, Rehoboam.

4. The kings of Judah here are Asa, Jehoshaphat, Jehoram, Ahaziah, and (or Jehoash).

5. The kings of Israel here are Omri, Ahab, Ahaziah, Jehoram, and Jehu (God’s assassin).

6. Do not be confused by the same names … they were different men named for each other.

7. The kings of Judah were generally superior to the kings of Israel, with some exceptions.

8. Jehoshaphat was a good king, but he foolishly married his son to Ahab’s daughter Athaliah.

9. The line running right to left from Jezebel to Athaliah indicates this horrible sin of affinity.

10. Though in the same church/nation (Israel), Jehoshaphat sinned terribly (II Chron 18:1; 19:2).

11. Jehoram of Judah followed his wicked wife and in-laws, killing his brothers when his father died and taking their abominable religion, so God took his sons but the youngest (II Chr 21).

12. The chart lines from Jehu show God’s command for him to assassinate both of the kings.

13. Athaliah, Ahaziah’s mother, killed all his children (her own grandchildren) to be queen.

14. It is amazing what things can happen from marrying an unbeliever. Do not ever allow it!

15. Athaliah’s daughter (line from Jehosheba) saved one infant boy alive (her nephew).

16. Jehoiada the priest and his wife Jehosheba kept the child hid in the temple for 7 years.

17. When the boy became seven years old, Jehoiada organized a revolt to make him king.

18. When Athaliah saw his coronation, Jehoiada had her killed outside the temple. Amen!

19. The boy king was Joash, continuing the intact line from Abraham and David to Jesus.

20. After Jehoiada died, friends corrupted Joash, and he killed Jehoiada’s son, Zechariah.

21. There are two chief lessons in the history: Jehoiada’s greatness, and the corruption of Joash.

22. Evil communications corrupt good manners, as bad friends will any Christian you know. Quiz for Jehoiada the Kingly Priest
