President Patsy Miller called our annual awards meeting to order at 12:15pm and welcomed all 140 in at- tendance. These included honored guests Kelley Rodriguez from Tarrant County Commissioner Andy Nguyen’s office; Steve Chaney, Laura Miller and Billie Hammack of the AgriLife Extension Service, Judi Ketchum, director of the Resource Connection, Bobby Spence of Harvest Supply; and Melinda Adams of the city Forest Service. Lena Goff and her committee, Sue Kelly, Marilyn Satterfield, and Debbie Haberly presented the awards.

Lena announced that from this time forward there will be a personalized brick placed at the pavilion honoring the Master Gardener of the Year and the Extra Mile recipient. The member with the most hours will get their name on a brass band on a shovel to be kept at the office. Continued on next page

Installation of new officers

Hester Schwarzer, parliamentarian, thanked the 2013 officers for their work and installed the new of- ficers for 2014. They are:

Taddie Hamilton presented President Miller with an engraved stone for her garden as a thank you for her hard work.

Patsy Miller thanked outgoing officers and membership for their service and Trip Smith for donating the poinsettias and begonias used as table decoration, gifts to special guests and door prizes.

She announced that Lizann Cundall is the new hospitality chair and will be sending out a request for food for the January meeting brunch on January 9.

Announcements – Julia Brown lost her son. Gus Guthrie was in the hospital with thyroid cancer.

This meeting would count as one hour for time keeping.
