According to St. Louis Mayor, Francis Slay, it may have been the biggest event since the city hosted both the World’s Fair and Summer Olympics in 1904. The ‘87s gathered for a weekend of fun and reminiscing includ- ing a concert, boating, waterskiing, pong and a St. Louis Cardinals vs. Chicago Cubs baseball game (see attached photo). At- tendees included John Campbell (Balti- more, MD), Steve Conlin (Boston, MA), Darr Keiger (Miami, FL), Andy McGrath (Saratoga Springs, NY), Eric Nelsen (Mil- waukee, WI), Conrad Smith (Minneapolis, MN), John Walsh (Boston, MA); Dave Wiser (Cincinnati, OH) and host Pete Panagos (St. Louis, MO). The idea for the get together was hatched during a late night brainstorming session during our classes 25th reunion in Hanover the previous summer. A fun time was had by all and plans are already in the works for future events in other parts of the country. Next time, I think Dave Wiser has offered to fly his private plane around the country and pick up all ‘87s interested in attending. I hope you’re okay with that Dave! - Your loyal ’87 newsletter reporter in the Midwest, Conrad Smith Editor’s note: Betsy ran into Conrad in Hanover in late October and he said he agreed to write this up on behalf of the group, but only if he had full editorial control of the content. I think he was quite kind with the details! Please let us know The Great Class of 1987 - - February 2014 2014 Class of 1987 - February Great The if you have any similar gatherings with classmates! Because we received the “Class of the Year” award after our 25th Reunion, we were at the front of the Dartmouth Night Parade! In addition to the McDonald family, the Great Class of ‘87 was represented by Tracey Salmon-Smith, Martha Ehrmann, Jeff Mead, and Mark Putter and family. Also spotted over the weekend were Holly Taylor and Tom Palisi. Great showing 87’s! Ginny Wise was in Ha- nover for a meeting of the Dartmouth College Fund Board, Betsy Rutherford was there for work and to see her daughter and they joined up with four of the six ‘87s in town for the council meeting: Anne Schnader, Conrad Smith, Jenn Tisdel Schorsch and Christen Fitzpatrick O’Connor. Brendan Connell and Meg Crone Ramsden didn’t make the post Alumni Council dinner gathering at the Canoe Club. Probably smart, as the other six of us where there long past final call. enn, Ginny and Betsy even managed to sneak in a Jreturn to the Canoe Club for lunch the following day and a long talk about life, careers and family. They agreed that the bonds formed during our time on the Hanover plain can be so easily re-formed and renewed. 2014 Class of 1987 - February Great The DPCS 2013 Post-Grads A big THANK YOU to all those who paid your Class Dues and included a donation to our Class Project. Our class gave $7,100 to DPCS last year, which represents 10% of all the funds con- tributed by the 16 DPCS supporting classes. Thanks especially to those ‘87s who served as mentors: Pam Haering, Timothy Schmidt, Thomas Rossant, Lisa Horowitz, Meg Frazier, Ali- cia Altman Southwell, Dave Roccaforte, Jessica Benjamin and Ricki Stern. Please continue to support our Class Project — Dartmouth Partners in Community Service — through our class dues check off. We need your participation! • It costs DPCS an average of $3,000 to support a Dartmouth undergrad who wants to work in a community ser- vice non-profit internship during an off term. Generally DPCS places 35-40 interns per year. It varies greatly by term (this past summer we had 22; this fall we have 2!) • The Class of ‘87 is one of 16 classes to officially support DPCS.
