Cable providers expand cooperation Tele Columbus and now share products

Mainz/Hanover, October 22, 2008. The cooperative venture between cable network operators Tele Columbus and PrimaCom is taking the next important step: both partners now offer customers a uniform product portfolio in their own independent networks. The two providers serve approximately 3.5 million households with analog television and increasingly, with digital TV packages, high-speed Internet and low telephone rates. All products are marketed under the same name and uniform brand design as well as integrated into common regional marketing activities.

In addition to the analog TV signal and access to publically available digital programs, the two companies will in future be offering customers a platform of some 55 private TV stations in digital quality including all stations in the RTL group and ProSiebenSat1. Furthermore, customers can subscribe to a number of other TV offers ranging from entertainment packages with up to 24 additional programs presenting the world of sports, movies, documentation, news, lifestyle, comedy and animation, to a sports package with all games in the first and second German soccer leagues and two erotic programs, all the way to special foreign language packages with programming in the most important European languages.

Depending on availability, TV offers are available individually or in economical combination- offers with varying Internet and telephone rates. Internet users can surf on PrimaCom and Tele Columbus at download rates of 1,000, 6,000 or 10,000 KB/sec at a flat rate. This rate includes at least one e-mail account. Both cable network operators provide one rate- connection or a telephone flat rate for unlimited free calls to standard numbers in the German landline network. In the "3er Kombi" triple-play offer, subscribers get digital TV, a fast 6 MB Internet connection and a telephone flat rate for EUR 34.99 monthly.

"In the course of developing a uniform product portfolio, we have continued to optimize our offerings to customers by including attractive TV packages and faster Internet access in the triple-play-package," said Markus Schmid, CEO and President of the Tele Columbus Group and CEO of the PrimaCom AG. "At the same time, our cooperative venture lets us achieve synergetic effects in purchasing and sales. Our common market image strengthens our presence above all in our target areas in Eastern Germany."

In the future, high-performance offers of additional services for customers and renters as well as a strong market image will enable further intensification of cooperation with the company’s most significant partner: the housing industry. "The telecommunications and cable market has also become a brand environment," Markus Schmid explains. "The opportunity to provide modern and market-oriented multimedia services thus brings great added value when marketing housing."

Tele Columbus and PrimaCom have partnered since October 2007 via a common majority shareholder. Integration of the two companies is desired in the near future.
