(Sample) Research and Forecast of China Heavy Duty Truck Industry, 2013-2017 Research and Forecast of China Heavy Duty Truck Industry, 2013-2017 (Sample) Huidian Research Publication Date: June 2013 (Sample) Research and Forecast of China Heavy Duty Truck Industry, 2013-2017 4. Development Status of China’s Heavy Duty Truck Industry 4.1Development Status 4.1.2 Status Quo Affected by the economic slowdown, the demand for heavy duty trucks showed a downward trend, and also, the financial credit crisis limited the financing vehicle purchasing capability; therefore, the global heavy duty truck market decelerated its growth rate since H2 of 2011. Mercedes-Benz, Volvo, Man, and some other major commercial vehicle groups implemented corresponding strategies and adjusted the market in China and India through closing related factories and reducing production. As for the commercial vehicle market in 2012, the segments of micro-vehicle, medium and light truck and heavy duty truck, the market situation was not optimistic, especially for the heavy duty truck which is considered as domestic “economic barometer”, the market shrunk severely affected by investment slowdown, monetary tightening, downstream entity’s poor profitability, as well as the policy stimulated demand overdraft in the previous two years. By the end of 2012, there were nearly 30 heavy duty truck manufacturers in China; the sales volume was 634,000 units and the market scale reached CNY 171.238 billion, reduced by 26.42% year-on-year. In the market segments, such as heavy-duty truck, truck chassis, semitrailer tractor fields appeared the negative growth of more than 20%, of which, the sales volume of truck chassis was 243,000 units, reduced by 31.13% year-on-year, which was the largest decline rate. Fig. 6 Output of China’s Heavy Duty Truck Industry, 2008-2012 Unit: 10,000 units Source: Huidian Research In the uncertain situation of downstream demand, the traditional “Top Three”, FAW, Dongfeng, SINOTRUCK, the second and third tier companies, such as Foton, Shaanxi Automobile Group, Beiben Trucks, Hongyan, Hualing and JAC, as well as the new entrants compete together. Dongfeng In 2012, Dongfeng produced 118,800 units of heavy duty trucks, reduced by 30.42% year-on-year, the sales volume was 130,000 units, reduced by 29.52%; although there was certain gap compared with the target set at the beginning of the year, the sales volume still ranked the first in this field. FAW Jiefang FAW Jiefang produced 104,000 units of heavy duty trucks, reduced by 31.04% year-on-year; the sales volume was 105,000 units, reduced by 33.08%, which was obviously higher than the industry level. As for the market segments, the semitrailer tractor over 25t was a superior product originally, but the sales volume also reduced by 37.06%; and the sales volume of heavy duty trucks was only 1,731 units, which was less than a half compared with the sales volume in the same period of last year. SINOTRUCK (Sample) Research and Forecast of China Heavy Duty Truck Industry, 2013-2017 In 2011, SINOTRUCK’s sales volume ranked first in the industry; in 2012, the heavy duty truck output was 97,511 units, reduced by 27.65% year-on-year; the heavy duty truck sales volume was 108,900 units, recued by 23.60% year-on-year.
