LASSETER May 2013 Copyright M.E. Lasseter 2013 ALL RIGHTS RESERVED ABSTRACT This thesis traces the various physical and metaphorical journeys south of Chicago musician Andrew Bird. Using what historical record is publicly available, I examine Bird’s formal musical training. I then explore the years between 1995 and 2001, or what I call Bird’s period of apprenticeship. Next is an exploration of the canonical narratives surrounding the blues of the Mississippi Delta, especially the music of Charley Patton. When Andrew Bird encountered a canon, or dominant histories and meanings of Southern music that influence how musicians play and how audiences interpret that music, he began to react against that canon in his own compositions and performances.

Attribuivamo anche la colpa ai nostro ascolti sempre più dispersivi, improntati ad una 'mentalità' del peer2peer. I risultati delle classifiche del 2007 sembrano dirci il contrario.

CARL STONE “Label’s Table” Hailed by The Village Voice as “the king of sampling,” Carl Stone is a pioneer of live computer music and electro-acoustic composition. Stone, who divides his time between San Francisco and Japan, where he teaches at Chukyo University’s School of Cognitive Sciences, has received grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Rock- efeller Foundation. 3. NINA VIOLET “For You I” Classically trained violinist and string arranger Nina Violet hails from Martha’s Vineyard, MA, and has toured across the U.S. and Britain with musicians such as Elvis Perkins, Willy Mason, and Radiohead. Clubs and organizations want more money, the student body wants a major concert, and SGA with its current funds simply cannot meet all of these demands. Their possible solutions are to either re-allocate the money from parking passes from the general school fund to SGA, raise the student activity fee an additional 100 dollars, or some sort of combination of the two. Club sports such as club hockey, suck up a lot of SGA’s money. Their plan is to separate club sports from the SGA budget.
