#9 –May 3, 2021 REGIONAL TOURNAMENT TIME Regional tournaments will be conducted this Friday and Saturday, 7 and 8. Don’t Forget: 1. REGIONAL ENTRY FORM TNS-3: Hand deliver KSHSAA Form TNS- 3 to your regional manager the day of your coaches meeting, prior to the seeding of the tournament. 2. TENNIS BALLS: Information on the tennis balls used for regional and state tournaments is located in your Tennis Manual on page 15. Note that for regional play that teams are to bring one container of new tennis balls per entry (singles/doubles). A school entering 2 singles and 2 doubles (max) = 4 cans of tennis balls. 3. PLAYER SEASON RECORDS: Throughout the season all coaches are to be posting season competition results on the KSHSAA online program. Coaches are required to bring copies of these completed records for all tournament entries. BRING 1 COPY FOR EACH COACH + THE TOURNAMENT MANAGER.

SEEDING REGIONAL TOURNAMENTS REPEAT The Seeding Procedure and Seeding Criteria are located in the 2020-2021 KSHSAA Tennis Manual on pages 20-21. Please be reminded: ➢ Coaches must always keep in mind the contest essentially belongs to the contestants. Coaches should seed their players and vote in the most ethical and fair manner in order to maintain the integrity of the seeding procedure for all athletes, not just their own players. ➢ YOU MAY NOT CONCEDE A SEED.

STATE TOURNAMENT-RECORDS REQUIRED FOR REGIONAL SINGLES & DOUBLES CHAMPIONS Following the regional tournaments, coaches will go online and enter the matches played at the regional tournament if one of their players or doubles team was the regional tournament champion. Once this has been done, the coach is asked to email [email protected]. This information is due by 10 a.m. on the Tuesday following the regional tournament ().

STATE TOURNAMENT SEEDING IMPORTANT ➢ Bracket Seeding via Zoom Mtg.: State tournaments will be seeded via a Zoom Mtg. on WEDNESDAY, • 3PM = 3-2-1A; 4PM = 4A; 5PM = 5A; 6PM = 6A. • The KSHSAA will send all head coaches of qualifying players the zoom link on . NOTE: The tournament bracket WILL NOT be re-seeded between the seeding meeting and the state tournament o Singles: If a player is unable to participate, they will not be replaced. Those in his regional will be moved up one place with the bye at the #6 spot. o Doubles: If a player is unable to participate, a player from his school who did not participate at the regional tournament may take one player’s place. If both players are unable to participate, those in his regional tournament will be moved up on the bracket with the bye at the #6 spot. 1 of 1 KSHSAA INTERPRETATION OF MASKING POLICY NEW At the 4/30/21 KSHSAA Board of Directors Meeting, the following language was approved:The requirement for wearing a face covering terminates on , 2021 for all outdoor activities. The mask mandates for indoor activities will end at the end of the spring championships. Schools shall continue to adhere to all local risk mitigation policies.
