Burlington – Great River Gateway Date of Award: August 11, 2004 Award Amount: $4,250,000 to Burlington & $1,000,000 to Des Moines County Project Description: This project includes several components designed to enhance cultural and recreational opportunities in the Burlington area, including: improvements to Community Field; renovations to Burlington Memorial Auditorium; construction of a new public library; rehabilitation of the new Des Moines County Historical Center; and major enhancements to the Big Hollow Recreation Area.

Cedar Valley (Waterloo-Cedar Falls) – Cedar Valley River Renaissance Date of Award: March 6, 2003 Award Amount: $9,500,000 Project Description: This project is a comprehensive development strategy that has the capacity to transform the Cedar Valley through the development of several projects, including the Cedar River Plaza and amphitheater, Pedestrian Riverwalk Loop, and Cedar Valley Dam, as well as improvements to trail and riverfront amenities.

Clinton – Things to Do With a River Date of Award: March 6, 2003 Award Amount: $3,300,000 Project Description: This project contains two major components—Riverview Park Development and the Downtown Economic Enhancement Strategy. New or enhanced riverfront amenities include the development of an aquatic center, skate park, marina, recreational vehicle park, Mississippi River’s Edge Trail, and park amenities. The project also includes renovations to the Clinton Area Showboat Theatre and Riverview Baseball Stadium.

Council Bluffs – Mid-America Recreation and Convention Complex Date of Award: April 11, 2001 Award Amount: $24,000,000 (Grant) & $7,000,000 (Loan) Project Description: This new complex includes a multi-use arena, multi-use fieldhouse/exhibit hall, and a convention facility that connects to a hotel.

Davenport – River Renaissance on the Mississippi Date of Award: August 8, 2001 Award Amount: $20,000,000 Project Description: This project creates The River City Music Corridor, the Arts Corridor, and the New Economy Corridor.

Des Moines – John and Mary Pappajohn Sculpture Garden Date of Award: May 14, 2008 Award Amount: $1,000,000 Project Description: The new sculpture garden, appraised at nearly $30,000,000, will hold over 20 sculptures donated by John and Mary Pappajohn.

Des Moines – Rediscovering the River Date of Award: December 7, 2003 Award Amount: $4,000,000 Project Description: This project includes construction of a 1.2-mile pedestrian promenade and a 2-mile multi-purpose trail will connect the promenade to Gray’s Lake. Dubuque and Dubuque County Historical Society – America’s River Date of Award: April 11, 2001 Award Amount: $8,000,000 Project Description: This project feature the Mississippi River Discovery Center, the Mississippi River National Education and Conference Center, Riverwalk and amenities, and the Riverfront Hotel and Indoor Waterpark.

Dubuque County Historical Society – Great Rivers Center and RiverMax Theater Date of Award: February 14, 2007 Award Amount: $8,000,000 Project Description: This project has multiple components that include renovations and remodeling of the National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium, the William M. Black steamboat, and Old Jail Museum.

Mason City – Mason City…a Community on the March! Date of Award: March 12, 2008 Award Amount: $9,000,000 Project Description: This project includes multiple elements that will build capacity in Mason City’s “Cultural Crescent.” Components include renovations to the Park Inn Hotel and the Mason City Public Library, the construction of the East Park Performing Arts Pavilion and the Historic Architecture Interpretive Center, and new recreation trails and greenway.

Ottumwa – Bridge View Event Center Date of Award: December 12, 2001 Award Amount: $7,500,000 Project Description: The historic Ottumwa Coliseum will be renovated and expanded to create a multi- purpose exhibition hall. Adjacent to the facility will be a new performing arts center, meeting rooms, a visual arts gallery, public spaces, and a reception hall.

Polk County, Science Center of Iowa, & Iowa High School Athletic Association – Capital City Vision Project Date of Award: July 11, 2001 Award Amount: $55,000,000 (Grant) & $15,000,000 (Forgivable Loan) Project Description: This project includes the following components: the Iowa Events Center, the new Science Center of Iowa facility, the Iowa Hall of Pride, the downtown Des Moines Public Library, the Pappajohn Learning Center, and the World Food Prize Center.

Sioux City – River’s Edge Date of Award: May 9, 2001 Award Amount: $21,000,000 Project Description: This project includes the construction of a new events center, Lewis and Clark interpretive center, and ground transportation center.

Greater Greenfield Community Foundation – Sports Complex Date of Award: 2/11/2009 Award Amount: $180,000 Project Description: The Sports Complex will consist of three soccer fields, three ball diamonds, a walking/bicycling path, parking, playground, picnic area, and shelter.

City of Stuart – Stuart Entertainment & Economic Development Project Date of Award: 10/10/2007 Award Amount: $545,000 Project Description: The historic All-Saints building will be restored into a community cultural center.

Greater Greenfield Community Foundation – Adair County Recreation Center Date of Award: 9/17/2001 Award Amount: $257,414 Project Description: The YMCA-managed center will include a gymnasium, walking track, fitness room, therapy pool, racquetball court, game room, locker room and more.

French Icarian Colony Foundation – “Garden to Table” Kitchen and Sanitary System Project Date of Award: 6/11/2014 Award Amount: $40,000 Project Description: This project includes the renovation of the basement and other areas of the historic dining hall to be used as a state-certified community kitchen, installation of a sanitation system for the dining hall and two public restrooms.

Johnny Carson Birthplace Society – Johnny Carson Birthplace Home Restoration Date of Award: 3/14/2012 Award Amount: $21,100 Project Description: This project includes the full restoration of Johnny Carson’s birthplace home.

City of Corning – Adams Community Aquatic Center Date of Award: 2/13/2008 Award Amount: $100,000 Project Description: The new aquatic center will have new bathhouse and mechanical buildings, pool shell, deck and related elements, and landscaping.

Allamakee County Conservation Board – Education and Visitor Center Date of Award: 5/11/2016 Award Amount: $486,386 Project Description: This project includes the construction of an educational and visitors center along the Mississippi River.

City of Waukon – Robey Memorial Library Expansion Date of Award: 3/13/2013 Award Amount: $95,000 Project Description: This project will expand the current library, including a new community room.

City of Postville & Postville Community School District – N.I.C.H.E.S (Noticing Investment Capacities: Health, Education, Service) Date of Award: 7/9/2008 Award Amount: $850,000 Project Description: This two-story addition to the community’s existing recreation center will include an indoor swimming pool, racquetball court, community center and classroom space for pre-school and child care services.

City of Waukon – Waukon Wellness Center Date of Award: 9/14/2005 Award Amount: $650,000 Project Description: The Center includes a walking/running track, multi-purpose room, multi-use gymnasium, racquetball courts, exercise/weight area, batting and golf cages, a senior dining and activity center, youth activity area, child care area, reception/information area, lounge/vending area, and shower and locker facilities.

Appanoose All Play, Inc. and Appanoose Conservation Foundation – Lelah Bradley Active Living Campus – Appanoose All Play Sports Complex Date of Award: 12/11/2013 Award Amount: $105,000 Project Description: This project will include the construction of two large camper cabins in the Lelah Bradley Conservation Area; the addition of a soccer/multipurpose field; an irrigation system to the entire sports complex; and additional parking.

Appanoose County Coalition for the Arts – Project Pride Date of Award: 9/10/2003 Award Award Amount: $360,000 Project Description: Project Pride is a combination of three projects: 1) The restoration and rehabilitation of the Drake Public Library; 2) Streetscape improvements; and 3) Remodeling of the town’s bandshell.

Audubon

Audubon Recreation Foundation – Audubon Recreation Center Date of Award: 7/8/2015 Award Amount: $410,000 Project Description: This project will include the construction of recreation center with racquetball courts, an eight-lane bowling alley, batting cage, one-on-one basketball, kid’s play area, arcade, community room, walking track, restaurant, and bar.

City of Audubon – Downtown Revitalization Project Featuring the John James Audubon Birdwalk Trail Date of Award: 3/14/2007 Award Amount: $300,000 Project Description: This project includes the construction of a fitness walking trail through downtown Audubon that will include mosaic tile blocks depicting John James Audubon bird prints. The streetscape plan will also feature period lighting with a brick walking.

City of Van Horne – Van Horne Community Projects Date of Award: 3/13/2013 Award Amount: $165,000 Project Description: This project includes the construction of a new, 4,800-square-foot community center with seating for approximately 200 and the construction of a new 3,200-square-foot library.

City of Atkins – Atkins Library, Community Room, and City Hall Date of Award: 4/13/2011 Award Amount: $277,000 Project Description: This project includes the construction of an 8,096 square foot facility to house the Atkins Public Library, Community Room, and City Hall.

City of Belle Plaine – Belle Plaine Family Aquatic Center Date of Award: 9/9/2009 Award Amount: $96,000 Project Description: This project includes the construction of a 6,826-square-foot pool area, lazy river, water slide, one and three meter diving boards, play structures, bathhouse, concession area, sunbathing area plus a mechanical and storage building.

Belle Plaine Historical Society – Belle Plaine Museum Date of Award: 10/8/2003 Award Amount: $250,000 Project Description: The Belle Plaine Museum will contain display areas, a reception area, a theatre/special event area, a conference room, lounge, office space and a storage area

Waterloo Development Corporation – Cedar Valley SportsPlex Date of Award: 11/30/2014 Award Amount: $750,000 Project Description: This new facility will include a large field house for indoor activities, gymnasium with basketball courts, walking/running track, weight lifting room, personal fitness studios, mat room, childcare area and playground, locker rooms, and meeting rooms.

City of Dunkerton – Dunkerton Public Library Date of Award: 11/11/2009 Award Amount: $98,000 Project Description: The new facility will include an adult reading room, computer area, two restrooms, a large circulation desk area, a walkout basement, children’s reading area, and program room.

City of Waterloo & Waterloo Development Corporation – RiverLoop Expo Date of Award: 2/14/2007 Award Amount: $1,000,000 Project Description: The RiverLoop Expo includes the development of an exposition area in and the renovation of an existing building into a Public Market.

Black Hawk County Conservation Board – Big Woods Campground Date of Award: 8/9/2006 Award Amount: $69,042 Project Description: The Big Woods Campground project includes the construction of fifty-five gravel camping pads, picnic areas, fire rings, and a restroom/shower house.

City of La Porte City – La Porte City Family Aquatic Center Date of Award: 8/10/2005 Award Amount: $100,000 Project Description: The project includes a six-lane lap pool, zero depth entry, a single flume waterslide, a dragon tot slide, a one-meter diving board, a three-meter diving board, bathhouse, and concession stand.

City of Cedar Falls – Cedar Falls Aquatic Center Date of Award: 2/9/2005 Award Amount: $100,000 Project Description: The new aquatic center will feature a lap pool with a shallow pool area; a diving area with three meter platform and one meter spring board; and a lazy river.

City of Hudson – Hudson Attraction Program Date of Award: 10/8/2003 Award Amount: $60,000 Project Description: This project includes an all-weather track and a skate park.

Iowa Railroad Historical Society d/b/a Boone & Scenic Valley Railroad Museum – Museum Library Date of Award: 10/12/2011 Award Amount: $170,000 Project Description: This project includes the construction of a 9,000-square-foot building to house the new James H. Andrew Railroad Museum & Library, which will include a theater, library, and large area to display railroad artifacts.

Boone County & Central Iowa Expo Inc. – Central Iowa Expo Date of Award: 9/12/2007 Award Amount: $3,000,000 Project Description: The project includes earthwork, trenching, sewers and drains, water, power, communication installation, street work, and landscaping.

Iowa Arboretum, Inc. – Here We Grow Again Date of Award: 5/14/2003 Award Amount: $120,000 Project Description: The end result of this phase will be the construction of a grand pavilion, greenhouse, visitor’s kiosk, shade arbor and the paving of a parking lot and pedestrian walkways.

Waverly Area Veterans Post – Veterans Service Center Date of Award: 9/10/2014 Award Amount: $675,000 Project Description: This project includes the construction of a 17,300-square-foot facility to house a museum displaying memorabilia from all generations of area veterans, a banquet hall, conference rooms, technology center, lounge, kitchen, dining area, and bar.

City of Janesville – Barrick Rd. Bicycle/Pedestrian Bridge Date of Award: 5/16/2012 Award Amount: $148,316 Project Description: This project includes the construction of a 480’ long, 10’ wide bicycle/pedestrian bridge over the Cedar River at the location of the former Barrick Rd. Bridge.

Bremer County – Rolling Prairie Trail – U.S. Highway 63 to Readlyn Date of Award: 7/11/2007 Award Amount: $250,000

Project Description: This project includes the construction and hard surfacing of 5.5 miles of non-motorized trail that will connect to the existing portion of the Rolling Prairie Trail. The trail will include five pedestrian/trail bridges. Once fully developed, the entire trail will provide over 80 miles of non-motorized use between Coulter and Oelwein.

City of Waverly & Wartburg College – Wartburg-Waverly Wellness Center Date of Award: 10/11/2006 Award Amount: $813,000 Project Description: The Waverly-Wartburg Wellness Center will be a two-story, facility with 97,000 square feet specifically designed to serve Waverly residents, visitors, and neighboring communities.

Waverly Health Center – Tendrils Rooftop Garden and Community Arts Pavilion Date of Award: 5/10/2006 Award Amount: $250,000 Project Description: The conservatory will be a new facility for the performing arts, enhance the City’s park opportunities, serve as a much needed respite care space for hospital patients and their families, provide space for youth mentoring and education, and serve as a venue for community and visitor-based functions.

Greater Denver Activities Foundation (GDAF) – Greater Denver Activities Complex - Phase II Date of Award: 5/11/2005 Award Amount: $220,000 Project Description: Improvements and additions to the complex include land acquisition/site grading, lighting, parking improvements, trail development and landscaping, concession/restroom/ picnic shelter construction, fencing, dug out roof and benches installation, bleacher installation, new seating, new scoreboards, and playground equipment and the addition of an irrigation system.

City of Sumner – Sunset Theatre Date of Award: 4/9/2003 Award Amount: $40,000 Project Description: This restoration project will remodel the existing Sunset Theater building as well as install the screen, film projector, sound equipment, marquee, and seats. The facility will be used as a movie house, a local theater for plays, and other social activities.

Waverly Shell Rock Soccer Association – Waverly Shell Rock Soccer Complex Date of Award: 6/12/2002 Award Amount: $100,000 Project Description: The Waverly/Shell Rock Soccer Complex includes development of nine full-size soccer fields. The complex will have parking, maintenance building, and a building for equipment, concessions, restrooms and shelter.

City of Sumner – Sumner Family Aquatic Center Date of Award: 9/17/2001 Award Amount: $37,000 Project Description: The state’s assistance will aid the project’s final components including the addition of a drop-off area entrance, play elements, shade elements for concessions, landscaping and gathering shelter.

City of Independence – Independence Aquatic Center Date of Award: 3/9/2016 Award Amount: $100,000

Project Description: The aquatic center will feature a new pool with zero depth entry, six 25-meter lap lanes, two diving towers, floatable water walk, single flume waterslide, shade structure, bathhouse, full concession stand, and party shelter.

City of Independence – Independence Public Library Date of Award: 11/8/2006 Award Amount: $550,000 Project Description: The Independence Public Library project includes the construction of a new 14,200 square foot facility on vacant land owned by the City of Independence.

City of Independence – Heartland Acres Agribition Center Date of Award: 12/8/2004 Award Amount: $750,000 Project Description: The Heartland Acres Agribition Center will include a Visitors’ Center with a gift shop, a museum containing local artifacts, a collection of antique automobiles, a windmill and well, a replica 1800’s barn with livestock and grain exhibits, a machine shed containing old and new farm equipment, and test or demonstration fields focusing on Iowa crops.

City of Aurora – Aurora Comet Center Date of Award: 7/9/2003 Award Amount: $85,000 Project Description: The Aurora Comet Center is a 6,720 square foot facility that will include a library/media center, a gymnasium with basketball/volleyball court, a fitness center, an indoor walking track, a kitchenette, a lounge, and a meeting room.

City of Fairbank – Fairbank Aquatic Complex Date of Award: 2/12/2003 Award Amount: $81,000 Project Description: This 4,199-square-foot project includes the construction of a swimming pool, bath house, water tower and slide, sand volleyball court, and much more.

City of Marathon – Marathon Community Building Date of Award: 6/8/2005 Award Amount: $200,000 Project Description: The Marathon Community Building project includes demolition of part of an existing building and construction of a 9,700 square foot building addition. The new addition will house the City’s new library, City Hall, City garage, and fire department.

Butler

Diamonds and Fields – Parkersburg Youth Sports Complex and Miracle Field Date of Award: 2/10/2016 Award Amount: $290,989 Project Description: This sports complex will have three little league diamonds, one senior league field, three soccer fields, and a Miracle Field.

Bristow Betterment – Bristow Betterment Splash Pad Project Date of Award: 1/13/2016 Award Amount: $28,760

Project Description: This project includes the construction of a splash pad in Memorial Park in Bristow.

City of Clarksville – Clarksville Public Library Date of Award: 4/13/2011 Award Amount: $160,240 Project Description: This project includes the construction of an addition that will double the size of the Clarksville Public Library. This additional space will allow for new computer kiosks, improved public meeting rooms, new staff working area, and a dedicated room for the Butler County Genealogical Society.

City of Parkersburg – Kothe Memorial Library Expansion & Renovation Project Date of Award: 1/12/2011 Award Amount: $80,000 Project Description: This project includes the construction of an addition to the back of the existing library. In addition, this project will include new electrical service, replacement of the carpet, repairs to the basement wall, and new furniture and equipment in the existing library.

Shell Rock Development Corporation – McCague Park Enhancements Date of Award: 6/13/2007 Award Amount: $70,000 Project Description: The McCague Park Enhancements project includes reconstructing the tennis courts, construction of a new T-ball field, new basketball court, new volleyball courts, new soccer fields, new play equipment, and a new trail connecting to other city parks.

The first floor will house the 1880’s post office and other area displays. The second floor will be finished to look as it did when the Sons of the Union Veterans met in the building.

The Plaza will include a living stream; two fish feeding stations; the Huck Finn raft ride; the Events Pavilion; a catfish sculpture; and aviaries. In addition, the City will develop a marina designated for overnight large boat use. The marina will include tie up facilities for 56 slips, navigational aids, concierge services, a dockside shower/restroom facility, and laundry facilities.

Council Bluffs – River’s Edge Park Date of Award: June 9, 2010 Award Amount: $2,000,000 Project Description: This project includes the construction of amenities found on the riverfront of the Missouri River including the Great Lawn, with its edge treatment of walkways, tree planting and vendor facilities; sand area, plaza and planting areas; amphitheater and bank development; trails and walkways, picnic tables, benches and trash receptacles; park road and bio-swales for containment of stormwater run-off; and parking lot for park visitors and events, including associated bio-swales.

Scenic City Empress Boat Club – Scenic City Empress Boat Club Building Renovation Date of Award: October 13, 2010 Award Amount: $58,000 Project Description: This project includes the major renovation of the 1937 two-story, 2000-square-foot log lodge on the Iowa River. Specific project components consist of replacing the foundation; repairing the deteriorating lower level; and improving the structural design including energy efficiency and green building practices.

Cedar Rapids – Cedar Rapids Riverfront Amphitheater and Festival Park Date of Award: March 9, 2011 Award Amount: $1,600,000 Project Description: The Amphitheater will be large enough to accommodate a 5,000-person event and will include a wall recognizing project donors, an upper path and plaza space, a sloping lawn, seating terraces, a stage structure, a riverfront trail, and naturalized river’s edge. The Festival Park will be located to the south of the Amphitheater, connected by a plaza space with vendors and a tree-lined pedestrian path. The Festival Park will be an open space with reinforced turf, lighting, and vendor hook-ups.

Des Moines – Des Moines River Trail, Phase 1 Date of Award: March 14, 2012 Award Amount: $113,542 Project Description: This project includes construction of a 2.5-mile trail along the Des Moines River from the Meredith Trail in downtown Des Moines to the James W. Cownie Soccer and Baseball Parks, with several street connections to the trail from adjacent neighborhoods along the way. Other project components: signage, kiosks, benches and resting points, and scenic overlooks.

Elkader – White Water Feature Date of Award: September 12, 2012 Award Amount: $62,000 Project Description: This project includes developing a whitewater feature at a low-head dam that will be modified with special placement of large and small habitat boulders and a wave catalyst structure.

Spencer – Spencer’s Little Sioux Riverfront & Trails Project Date of Award: September 12, 2012 Award Amount: $171,000 Project Description: This project consists of three components: a prominent pedestrian boardwalk with grand viewing plaza and other associated riverfront improvements; the installation of a 140-foot-span, 10- foot-wide bridge connecting to the city’s trail network; and paving of almost 1.3 miles of recreational trail.
