BLEND 56% 2013 Cuvée Elfrieda Zorn 26% Red Willow Vineyard, Columbia Valley 18% VINEYARD SOURCES Red Willow is one of the North- west’s most prestigious vineyards. Located along the western bound- ary of the Yakima Valley AVA, its high elevation is above the Missoul Flood line and so Red Willow Vineyard, Yakima Valley AVA. contains ancient soils, unusual for eastern Washington. Owner and grower Mike Sauer was the first in the Northwest to plant many varieties that are now commonplace. Lady Hill is proud to craft from the legendary Red Willow Vineyard.

Named after the pioneering Willamette Valley farmer Elfrieda Zorn, of the Zorn family whose 5th-generation Oregon farm is home to Lady Hill Winery, this special cuvée is part of Lady Hill’s Pioneer Series—wines that honor the spirit of the True Northwest. TASTING NOTES This offers delightful bright purple and violet rims, but the core color is a dusky, earthy, medium-hued red sometimes called “currant.” As might be expected, red currant tones appear in the nose along with a subtle strain of dried sage and crushed red plums. On the palate it takes awhile for this young wine to open, but pateince is well rewarded by a succulent, almost viscous velvety texture that carries flavors of Mission figs, dried cranberries, and currants. Additional notes of cola and a hint of mocha appear in the background. The finish offers lengthy menthol freshness. Though the mouth feel is plush, there is plenty of bright acidity and a satisfying backbone of soft, well-integrated tannins. Though quite young, this wine packs a lot of power and is a satisfying match to a rich boeuf bourguignon.
