Two years ago, November 2018 finishing touches were in process in anticipation of the new Grille Room’s opening night on December 7. Carpet, tile, furniture, fixtures and equipment were delivered and installed. The staff was prepping and planning for service in the new areas. Hard to believe December will mark the two year Manniversary of the Grille Room opening. Thank you for your continued support, the staff and I are proud to serve each of you every day. Thanksgiving is just around the corner and this year you will be able to enjoy Thanksgiving Brunch at TCC as in the past. Have a Happy Thanksgiving! Pumpkin Decorating - Fall Fun with Family & Friends

Message from the Chef Billy Fuschino, Executive Chef ts hard to believe it is already November. This probably my most favorite time at the Club. Every day when I am at work, I stand on the patio and look out over the golf course and just admire the changing of the seasons from the first buds on the Itrees, the leaves changing colors and of course the very first snowfall of the year. This year for Thanksgiving we will be doing things a little different. We will be serving you family-style with a traditional dinner. We will be serving turkey, honey glazed ham, mashed potatoes and gravy, green bean casserole, cornbread stuffing, fresh cranberry sauce and your choice of apple, cherry or pumpkin pie. Please make your reservation for dine-in or to-go Thanksgiving Brunch by calling (785) 354-8561. We look forward to celebrating with you this year! If you would like to place a carryout order for Thanksgiving please remember to give us a call and we will be happy to assist you with whatever you might need. Next months cooking class will feature Thanksgiving Day appetizers and sides. We will be jazzing up the traditional sides and adding a little flare to the traditional appetizers. 4 Tennis News try Junior Brown, USPTA, Director of Tennis Tennis Doubles Tip Tennis & Pickleball It is no secret I love doubles and I love getting to the net and hitting volleys. One of the basic differences between singles and doubles is for free! more action at the net and often a more action-packed game. Here Saturdays is a quick tip to improve your net game. Practice the “Freeze” volley. November 7 ~ November 21 This is especially helpful when playing against an opponent who likes to hit the ball hard at you. Here are the steps to perform this well. Tennis: Noon – 1:00 p.m. Pickleball: 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. 1. Have a good ready position or athletic stance. Feet slightly past shoulder width and knees bent. Fun for anyone and everyone! Adults and kids ages 8+ are all welcome. 2. Stay calm - Breathe 3. When the ball is hit near you simply make a small pivot with the hips and shoulders the direction the ball is going. 4. Stay calm – Breathe 5. Keep the racket in front of you (no backswing necessary) get the strings behind the ball. 6. Upon impact with the ball hold the racket as steady as possible or in other words just “Freeze” it in place. 7. Congrats! You just took their best shot and returned it back with no problem. 8. Okay now if you forgot to breathe then take a quick breath and get ready to do it again! Boogie Down Tennis “Free for All” Friday, November 13 from 6:30-8:00 p.m. Lots of Drills and Games set to fun energetic music!!! Call or email to sign-up. Golf Course News Kent Morgison, GCSAA, Golf Course Superintendent hile this year has been unprecedented and the craziest year in my lifetime, one constant is that November still follows October on the calendar. While this means that winter is right on our doorstep here in Kansas, it does not mean that the golf clubs need to be put up for the year. The month will still undoubtedly bring plenty of golfing Wdays, but changes are occurring both on the course and with the weather. Inevitably, decent daytime temperatures are going to be forecasted throughout the winter which will allow for great golfing weather. However, as you are tucked away in bed or having your morning cup of coffee, temps close to freezing may be forming a blanket of frost on the facility that could remain well after sunrise. When this happens, the course, including the range and putting green, will remain closed until it warms enough to melt the frost, as allowing traffic on frosted turf causes unsightly and unnecessary damage that will linger for months. On these mornings, it is always a good idea to call the Golf Shop before heading out to see if there is a delay, and if so, relax at home and let Mother Nature take care of business, there will be plenty of time to get your round in. Also, as a maintenance staff, we will be shifting some of our focus from day to day duties elsewhere. Daily mowing and other practices may be substituted for more long-term goals and projects. As always, annual tree trimming and removal will begin during the month if it hasn’t already commenced. Removal of dead and diseased trees is a priority for overall aesthetics, and will probably be the most noticeable task. Likewise, pruning of existing trees aids the facility in multiple ways. Proper pruning is essential in keeping trees healthy, but can also improve the playability of the golf course, both in shot value and helping the turf below thrive. Lastly, as some of the trees have become so large and are growing too close together to coexist, certain trees may be removed to allow the healthiest of the remaining trees to flourish. We take great pride in improving the course with all of these methods, while being sensitive to the numerous benefits that healthy tree canopies provide. That is what you can expect this month from your grounds department. Hope all of you are well and have a great start to the holiday season. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to wave me down on the course. 5 Upcoming EventsInformation Make your reservation for any of the following events by calling (785) 354-8561.
