PAGE 2 DECEMBER 2012 SHANE DENT PRINCIPAL NEWS FROM THE HEALTH ROOM

With the sore throat and flu season upon us, we have experienced numerous absences at Oatville. The State Health De- partment has advised the school to strongly recommend that a child be totally fever free of all flu symptoms for at least 24 hours before returning to school. Students who exhibit symptoms of illness should not be sent to school. Health aides or school nurses reserve the right to decide whether the student should remain in school. We would also like to remind parents of the district’s policy of dispensing medication at school. Please read the following guidelines:  School personnel will not administer any kind of medication except to students on continued medication who have specific doctor’s orders. Medications must be in the original container and be accompanied by a written note from the student’s doctor and legal guardian.  At no time are students allowed to have any kind of medications on their person except when going to the health room or when leaving school.

As in the past, please remember to call the school before 9:00 a.m. if your child will be absent. If we do not hear from you, Miss Ferris will call to verify your child’s absence. Your cooperation and understanding is much appreciated.
