Sam Theman a Film by Gary Winick FISHER ANNABELLA STEVENS SCIORRA SAM THEMAN A FILM BY GARY WINICK From director Gary Winick (Tadpole, 13 Going on 30) comes the provocative romantic comedy SAM THE MAN, a compellingly believable, wryly funny tale about the complexities of dating and the contradictions of human nature. Fisher Stevens (Uptown Girls, Hackers) stars as Sam Manning, a once- successful Manhattan writer who now flounders through life, compulsively wasting his creative energies by cheating on his photographer fiancée. As Sam’s day-to-day choices become more irrational, his infidelities start to take control, but only a humbling dose of self-reflection can possibly steer him back towards a path of healthy living. An inventively crafted and smartly observed film-fest favorite, SAM THE MAN features an all-star cast, including Annabella Sciorra, Maria Bello, Rob Morrow, Ron Rifkin, Griffin Dunne, Luis Guzmán, and George Plimpton. • From Award-Winning Writer/Director/Producer Gary Winick (13 Going on 30, Tadpole, Pieces of April, Personal Velocity). • Featuring an All-Star cast including Annabella Sciorra (Jungle Fever, The Hand that Rocks the Cradle), Fisher Stevens (Short Circuit), Luis Guzmán (Traffic), Ron Rifkin (Alias), Rob Morrow (Northern Exposure), Maria Bello (The Cooler, ER), and John Slattery (Mona Lisa Smile, Ed).

CHAPTER I INTRODUCTION A. Background of the Study Every human being has his or her own problems in life. The problems may vary among them. Problems are not to be avoided but to be faced and solved. If an individual tries to escape from the problems and avoid solving it, the problems are getting more complicated, which in turn will arise conflict and frustration. Sacrifice is one of the problem that every human being faces. Therefore, human being must know that loyalty gives something important for somebody or something else considered to be of more value or importance. Here, the writer wants to discuss about the sacrifice of young girl named Sophie on the Letters to Juliet movie directed by Gary Winick. The Letters to Juliet movie which was realised in 2010 is a fantasy film directed by Gary Winick. The movie shows about the struggle of an old woman named Claire who looks for her first love along fifty years. The writer is interested in the Letters to Juliet movie, because the story of the movie is inspiring love story. The film was released theatrically in North America and other countries on May 14, 2010. The idea for the film was inspired by the 2006 non fiction book, “Letters to Juliet,” by Lise Friedman and Ceil Friedman, which chronicles the phenomenon of letter writing to Shakespeare’s most famous romantic heroine. 1 2 Gary Winick ( March 31, 1961- February 27, 2011) was an America film director and producer who directed films such as Tadpole (2002) and 13 Going on 30 (2004).

To date, most historical documentation and recording of AFI events and activities has been disseminated to the mass media from within the organization through its own publications or in other historical documentation as incidental history in relation to another topic. This dissertation, written as an overview, is the first comprehensive, independent historical examination of the AFI. The examination begins with an exploration of the development, activities and decline of the American Council on Education‟s original AFI and other film organizations that existed prior to the present day AFI.
