Abdul Wadud5, Mafia Akter6 Abstract Introduction: In developing countries like Bangladesh, post-infectious glomerulonephritis (PIGN) is the common form of acute glomerulonephritis having its changing pattern over recent decades. The aim of the study was to analyze the clinical profile of PIGN in local scenario. Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted at Shaheed Sheikh Abu Naser Specialized Hospital, Khulna during period from 2017 to 2019. A total of 67 cases of PIGN were identified on the basis of clinical features, laboratory parameters with recent history of infection. The patients’ records were reviewed with respect to clinical data. Patients with reduced complement level were included. Result: The age range of the patients was between 2 and 55 years with male predominance. The study revealed that 32.8% of patients had a recent history of sore throat, 31.3 % of patients had a history of skin infection and rest 35% had a history of fever. Moreover, during presentation 68% of patients had hypertension and 37 % of patient had renal impairment. In this study, majority of patients (53%) presented with one plus to two plus proteinuria and the rest of the patients (37%) presented with three plus proteinuria on dipstick. After 2 weeks of follow up, the presence of hematuria found in 58 patients out of 67, proteinuria found in 14 patients out of 61 and renal impairment found in 5 patients out of 25.

Objectives: To compare efficacy and safety of double dose of tamsulosin monotherapy with combination of conventional dose of tamsulosin and finasteride in symptomatic BPH. Methods: This was a prospective study carried out in the Department of Urology, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University, Dhaka, Bangladesh during the period of July 2005 to June 2006. Total 60 patients of 45-80 years of age were consequently selected according to inclusion criteria. After completion of baseline clinical evaluation and investigations, participants were divided into two groups, group A and group B. Group A were given tamsulosin 0.4 mg for 1 week. Then double dose of tamsulosin (0.8 mg) were given from 2nd week for 12 months. Group B were given tamsulosin 0.4 mg and finasteride 5 mg for the same duration. Efficacy was evaluated at 6 month and 12 month follow up visit and a comparison was made between them. During follow up each was observed for any adverse effect.

Prof.Rashiduddin Ahmed established the first Neurosurgery unit in the then Institute of Postgraduate Medical Research (IPGMR) with only six beds in 1970. The first generation neurosurgeons left the field of neurosurgery in the safe hands of their disciples. There was a rapid progression of neurosurgery further both in private and in government level after 2000.In 1997 the first MS (Neurosurgery) course was started in IPGMR which was replaced by a 5-year residency course under Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) in 2010. Till now over 154 candidates are the active members of Bangaldesh Society of Neurosurgeons and are practicing independent neurosurgery. It is a very popular course and at present there are about 89 residents in various phases of the course in 4 institutions under BSMMU. With the available investigations, diagnostic facilities, operative facilities and good neuroanesthesia; now neurosurgeons also developed their skills in vascular neurosurgery, pediatric neurosurgery, endoscopic neurosurgery, spinal stabilization procedures, stereotactic neurosurgery and stem cell therapy. All the kidney biopsies were done in Shaheed Sheikh Abu of GN cannot be determined definitely due to the absence of central kidney biopsy registry. The aim of this study was to see Naser Specialized hospital, Khulna, Bangladesh from 2015 to 2020, and reviewed retrospectively. A total of 151 native kidney biopsies were examined by light and immunofluorescence microscopy. The mean age of the study patients was 31.3 ± 13.79 years with a range of 11-66 years, 52% were male and 48 % were female. Primary glomerulonephritis was observed in 91% slight decline in Bangladesh, though it still remains the commonest glomerulonephritis in this study.

    Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman 15 August: The National Mourning Day 15th August is the National Mourning Day. At the fateful night of August 15 in 1975, the cruelest assassina - tion of history took place. The founding architect of Bangladesh, Father of the Nation, the Glorious Leader of Liberation War, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was assassinated along with all the members of his family then in Dhaka and other leaders. Anti-Liberation and reactionary international forces with the help of their local henchmen staged this most brutal murder of all times. The anti-liberation reactionary and counter-revolutionary forces usurped the state-power through the assassination of Bangabandhu on August 15, 1975. The killers brutally murdered not only Bangabandhu, but also his wife Bangamata Fazilatunnesa Mujib, sons Sheikh Kamal, Sheikh Jamal and Sheikh Russell, daughters-in-Law Sultana Kamal and Parvin Jamal. Seventeen more dear and near ones of Bangabandhu, including his brother Sheikh Abu Naser, brother-in-law Abdur Rab Serniabad, nephew Sheikh Fazlul Haq Moni, Moni's wife Arju Moni, Shahid Serniabat, Baby Serniabat, Arif Serniabat, Sukanto Abdullah Babu, Security officer Colonel Jamil Uddin Ahmed and Abdul Noim Khan Rinto were also killed during the world's most heinous terrorism. Bangabandhu's daughters, incumbent Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Sheikh Rehana, survived the Carnage as they were in Germany at that time. The hyenas did not even spare the life of Bangabandhu's nine year old minor son Sheikh Russel who was awarded a swarm of bullets on his soft chest when he cried out in fear of the horror and requested the killers to take him to his mother.
