Diamond Jubilee Wirral Ramblers SUNDAY 9th NOVEMBER 2014 BUXTON AREA (Buxton 5.00pm) (Coach mobile number: 07895 152449) Liscard 8.30am, Heswall 9.00am. A WALK Please have rucksacks on coach Starting at the Cat & Fiddle pub a linear walk heading S then W to Shutlingsloe Hill. It's then S to the River Dane at Gradbach from where we head NE via Turn Edge and Drystone Edge (which is wet) to Dane Head. We continue N over Axe Edge Moor and Burbage Edge before descending into Buxton on Bishop's Lane. DISTANCE: 24km (15miles) 20 POINTS ASCENT 760m. (2500ft) B PLUS WALK Please have rucksacks on coach Starting from Cat and Fiddle gr.029713 we go S to Clough House, Wildboar clough. crossng the A54 we join the Dane Valley Way [dvw] at Gradback youth hostel. At Panniers Pool we ascend NE to the A54 and a short road walk before rejoining the dvw to Solomans Temple. We then descend N to Burlington Road and the coach. DISTANCE: 20km (12.5 miles) 16 POINTS ASCENT 500m. (1700ft) B MINUS WALK Starting from Buxton we head NW to Watford Farm before climbing up through Watford and Beet Woods to Watford Moor where we follow a track and path along the E bank of Errwood Reservoir to Bunsal Cob. Next we cross the dam and walk S on paths to the pack horse bridge over the Goyt below Goytsclough Quarry. Finally, we climb steadily over Goyt’s Moss and Berry Clough to Burbage and then on through Buxton to rejoin the coach in Burlington Road, adjacent to the Pavilion Gardens. DISTANCE: 15km (9.3 miles) 12 POINTS ASCENT: 400m (1310 ft) C WALKPlease have rucksacks on coach Starting at the Cat & Fiddle we head towards Shining Tor, NE to Wild Moor and at reservoir turn SE along disused railway line to Beet Wood. Then SE back to bus via golf course. + half point for terrain. DISTANCE: 12.9km (7.9 miles) 8.5 POINTS ASCENT 155m (500ft) D WALK From the Pavilion Gardens we head NW through Gadley Wood, past Cavendish Golf Club and on to Watford Wood before turning S through Beet Wood then Shay Wood and continuing S to cross the A53 into Buxton Country Park. We continue E through the park and Grin Low Wood to Solomon's Temple from where we turn N back to the Pavilion Gardens. DISTANCE: 9.7km (6 miles) 7 POINTS ASCENT 155m (500ft) Please keep behind your leader at all times WALKS SHOULD NOT Coach stop COACH WILL DEPART RETURN TO THE COACH Macclesfield 15 min AT 5.00pm BEFORE 3.30pm NO SMOKING ON THE COACH, THANK YOU.
