Greetings
Thank you once again for your fine interest that allows our operation to be possible. We wish to personally express our sincere appreciation for your patronage. The year 2000 is approaching at a rapid rate and we have been intensely involved in organizing our place for the world convention to be held in Portland, Oregon. It is hoped that everyone will experience the same gracious hospitality in 2000, which was present at the 1998 English Daffodil Society Centenary and Northern Ireland tour. American Dream is at the top of our introductions, with its perfection and unique style; Canterbury, an all yellow triandrus hybrid bred from Hilister; Color Magic with its deep yellow perianth and Magician-colored corona; also, Masada with its intense coloration in a red pink split corona. There are new introductions from the Freys, including Pink Hummer, an exceptionally well formed small jonquil with intense pink col- oration. In addition, we are pleased to offer the first from our daughter Christine Havens. Several newer cultivars are available from Jackson Daffodils, Tasmania, Australia. Their cultivars do exceptionally well for us with vigor, good health, heavy substance and durability. In addition to their eminent show flowers from Divisions 1 - 3, we especially note well formed full doubles with strong natural supporting stems. Originations from Mrs. Ben Robertson and Dr. Frank Galyon are includ- ed as well. If your main interest is with garden flowers, please note our expanded Garden Page with new introductions, along with a number which are ideal in terms of health, color, etc. In closing, it is our desire that you have an outstanding growing and showing year and that you may be able to attend the American Daffodil Society National show and convention in Pittsburgh, PA on April 22-24, 1999.
Best wishes,
Richard and Elise Havens
FOR THE NEW CUSTOMER
1. Flower Color - Our descriptions are based on observations of the blooms when they reach maturity as they bloom here. The pre- ceding has involved several years. In many cases, pinks may open a yellow or greenish color. The intensity of the pink color devel- ops with maturity of the bloom. Reverse bi-colors will open with the corona reversing to a white as the bloom matures. Many of the red cups develop their brightness with maturity as well. It is not unusual for a double to require more than one year to adapt to its new habitat and climatic conditions. 2. Prices listed include postage in the United States. 3. Many of you will have interest primarily in garden flowers. Please note Country Garden for additional information on seedling mixtures, collections and newer forms. 4. Bulbs will vary as to their size and genetic make-up (i.e. a large flower does not always produce a large bulb).
