Senior wide receiver Will Gillach (Lindstrom, Minn./Chisago Lakes) caught fi ve passes for 69 yards and three fi rst- half touchdowns. The last Johnnie to record three or more receiving touchdowns in a half was Blake Elliott '03 in 2002 (vs. St. Thomas on Nov. 2). Wide receiver Dan Harrington '17 recorded career highs with six receptions for 159 yards and a touchdown. He entered the contest with eight catches for 93 yards in seven previous games this season.

2018 Johnnie Football • @SJUJohnnies • @SJUFootball • A Tradition Unrivaled 3 SJU HEAD COACH GARY FASCHING STEPPING IN FOR THE LEGEND A 1981 SJU graduate, Fasching became the 16th head coach in the 102- year history of Saint John’s University football following the 2012 season. He succeeded , who announced his retirement following 60 seasons at SJU, after serving 17 seasons as an assistant football coach and recruiting coordinator at SJU. Fasching was a three-year starter for Gagliardi and the Johnnies at linebacker during the 1978 and 1980-81 seasons. A knee injury held him out of the 1979 season. AS AN ASSISTANT The Johnnies posted a 164-39 record (120-22 MIAC) with 10 conference titles and 12 postseason appearances (22-11 playoff record), including the 2003 national champion- ship, 2000 national runner-up performance and four national semifi nal games during his tenure as an assistant coach. Elliott excelled for the Johnnies for four years and SJU Football in the Classroom ended his career as the recipient of the Gagliardi Trophy and a national championship in 2003; a -SJU returns seven of last year's 16 Academic All-MIAC (minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA) season that included Gagliardi's record-breaking honorees in 2018: Brandon Beranek, Brady Buckentine, Will Gillach, Tyler Hartigan, 409th career victory. He owns three NCAA playoff records, two MIAC records and 29 SJU Max Jackson, Sam Marshall and Sam McNamara. The Johnnies have had totaled 81 receiving records. Elliott was a three-time All-American, a two-time MIAC Player of the Academic All-MIAC recipients in Gary Fasching's fi rst fi ve seasons, the most in the MIAC Year, a Gagliardi Trophy fi nalist as a junior in 2002 and was invited to play in both the during that span (Bethel is next with 66 honorees since 2013).
