The language of cinema continues to evolve in a living tradition and the filmmakers trace the ever-changing language of this medium from the silent era to the talkies, from the days when screen went from black and white and got colorized. Emotional appeal, subtlety in its communication and most importantly throwing a new light on the world, as we know it counted a lot to the audience. Filmmakers now work across the spectrum of media including painting, novels, theatre and opera. In the global cinema, in general, the production has become more accessible today, the qualitative aspects have sadly given way to quantity and so, films often miss emotional and spiritual richness. The world is a closer place today. Perhaps it is cinema that helps to blur the boundaries. The concept of film as a commercial art form started in fifties. The fifties and sixties are generally known as the golden period of Indian cinema not only because masterpieces were being made, but because of the popularity of the songs of that era. Rather than pick up the baton, as is the usual practice among Marwaris, Shrikant Mohta and cousin Mahendra Soni decided to turn their efforts in another direction, which led to the foundation of Shree Venkatesh Films (now renamed SVF Entertainment), which has grown phenomenally over the years, earning the sobriquet ‘Yashraj Films of the East’. Bengali cinema raised its budget & marketing expenditure to boost the business, increasing the gross income to some limited number of films but lags far behind the success of even South Indian films.     Theorizing Liminal Cinema: Unsettling the Transnational Spaces of Italian-Indian Co-productions Monia Acciari (Independent Scholar) Abstract: This article seeks to provide a contribution to the contemporary writing on transnational cinema. By acknowledging the prolific literature that characterizes transnational cinema through specific categories of cultural and societal mobilization, and the writing on crossover cinema, this work aims to enter into a dialogue with the respective authors and propose a less structured approach to transnational mobilization. To study such mobilizations and its complex forms, co-production ventures were used as case studies to highlight the efforts of early international joint endeavors, and more recently, those of outsourcing agencies, as being nodes for changing forms of international collaborations. By focusing on Italian-Indian co- produced films, this work situates co-production studies within the literature on transnational cinema, and unsettles fixed cinematic categories in favor of a more mobile and fluid paradigm. Hence, the term Liminal cinema is proposed to critically assess and emphasize the dynamics of the complex phenomenon of transnational cinema-in-motion. KEYWORDS--- Motherhood, widowhood, Chokher Bali, Chaturanga Motherhood is a God like quality and one of the greatest privileges acquired by women. It can be said as a woman’s second birth. The Mother-Goddess appears as a compelling image of female power. Apart from God the ability of creation is only attributed to mothers. Being a biological mother is not a prerequisite for attaining motherhood. The divinity of motherhood and various aspects have become an impetus for so many poets, sculptors, painters, etcetera. Rabindranath Tagore’s various novels and short stories tried to visualize the life of women and the diverse roles played by them in the society. The present study seeks to explore the multidimensional facets of motherhood in Tagore’s novels Chokher Bali and Chaturanga and how motherhood and the denial of motherhood influence the characters.
