Minutes of the Special Meeting of the Board of Trustees February 13, 2019 Source: Southern Illinois University System Office (siusystem.edu) Downloaded: 7/23/19 MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES SOUTHERN ILLINOIS UNIVERSITY FEBRUARY 13, 2019 Pursuant to notice, a special meeting was called by the Chair of the Board of Trustees of Southern Illinois University, and the meeting convened at 2:02 p.m., Wednesday, February 13, 2019, in the Special Events Room of Birger Hall, Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, Edwardsville, Illinois. The meeting was called to order by Chair Sholar. The following members of the Board were present: Amy Sholar, Chair Hon. J. Phil Gilbert, Vice Chair Mr. Joel Sambursky, Secretary Mr. Tom Britton Mr. Brione Lockett Dr. Shirley Portwood Dr. Marsha Ryan Ms. Molly Smith The following member was absent: MG (Ret) Randal Thomas The Executive Secretary reported and the Chair determined that a quorum was physically present. Also present for the duration of the meeting were Dr. J. Kevin Dorsey, Interim President; Mr. Lucas Crater, General Counsel; and Ms. Misty Whittington, Executive Secretary of the Board. Dr. John M. Dunn, SIUC Interim Chancellor, attended a portion of the meeting. Chair Sholar explained the procedures for the public comment and question portion of the Board’s agenda. 2 Mr. Rex Budde, president and chief executive officer for Southern Illinois Healthcare (SIH) spoke to the Board. He spoke of the need for nurses not only across the country but also in southern Illinois. Mr. Budde noted the support SIH had offered to provide SIUC for such a program and also additional support offered from a donor. -

DECEMBER 16, 2017 2017 FALL COMMENCEMENT WELCOME TO SOUTHERN ILLINOIS UNIVERSITY EDWARDSVILLE On behalf of the faculty, staff and students of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, I am pleased to welcome you to the 121st Commencement celebration. Our graduates have achieved a significant milestone in their lives, excelling in their academic pursuits while exemplifying the values of citizenship, excellence, inclusion, integrity and wisdom upon which the University is founded. SIUE is a place where dreams are built and futures are formed. The University community is proud to have supported each of our students during their time on campus. At the conclusion of today’s ceremony, the graduates will share alumni status with more than 100,000 fellow Cougars. SIUE will continue to provide assistance as our students transition to the professional world or pursue an advanced course of study. Today’s ceremony marks the 102nd SIUE Commencement celebrating student achievement and our active commitment to higher learning. Under the instruction of SIUE faculty, our graduates have excelled within their chosen programs of study and are recommended as degree recipients. Southern Illinois University Edwardsville exhibits a strong commitment to the development of professional and community leaders and we are proud to recognize today’s graduates as tomorrow’s leaders. School of PHARMACYsiue.edu/pharmacy Dean’s Report 2018 FROM THE DEANS ABOUT SIUE As I transition to other roles at SIUE, I would like to sincerely thank all our stakeholders SIUE awards degrees in undergraduate, graduate and doctoral programs encompassing the arts, sciences, nursing, education, health, (students, faculty, staff, alumni, the Pharmacy Advisory Board, and the community) for human behavior, business and engineering. The Schools of Dental Medicine and Pharmacy award doctor’s first-professional degrees helping in the tremendous success of the School of Pharmacy. in dental medicine (DMD) and pharmacy (PharmD). Doctoral programs are available in nursing practice and educational leadership. Our achievements have been nothing short of amazing.
