LOOKING AHEAD: 2019 Team Notes * Dallas has clinched a playoff berth for the third time in six seasons and first time since 2015-16 when it fell to St. Louis in the Second Round, a seven-game series that saw them lose a Game 7 on home ice for the first time in 19 years.

* The Stars (1999, 2000) are one of four teams to appear in the Stanley Cup Final in consecutive seasons over the past 25 years (since 1992-93). The others: Penguins (2008, 2009 and 2016, 2017), Red Wings (2008, 2009) and Devils (2000, 2001).

* Overall, the franchise has reached the Final on four occasions – twice as the (1981 and 1991) and twice since relocating to Dallas in 1993-94.

* The Stars have played in at least six games in each of their past seven playoff series dating to 2007, the second such run in franchise history – the North Stars also found themselves in seven straight series of six or more games from 1968 to 1973. Every other instance in NHL history: Capitals (12; 2012 to 2018), Blackhawks (11; 1961 to 1968), Maple Leafs (10; 2001 to 2018), Flames (9; 2004 to 2015), Flyers (8; 1987 to 1989), Ducks (7; 2008 to 2014), Red Wings (7; 2004 to 2008) and Canucks (7; 1989 to 1994). ^Dallas and are the only active such runs

Player Notes * Eight current Stars also skated at least one game with the club during their last playoff run: , , , , John Klingberg, , and Brett Ritchie. Additionally, Stephen Johns participated in the 2016 postseason but has yet to skate in a game in 2018-19 due to injury.

* (19 years, 266 days on April 10, 2019) can become the 10th teenager to suit up in a playoff game for the Stars/North Stars and only the second to do so since the club relocated to in 1993-94 – Nichushkin notched one assist in his playoff debut at age 19 years, 43 days on April 16, 2014.

* To date, the only teenage defenseman to skate in a playoff game for the franchise is , who made his postseason debut at age 19 years, 319 days on April 18, 1992 and recorded two assists in five games for the North Stars in 1992. Seven years later, Hatcher led the Stars to their first Stanley Cup to become the first U.S.-born player to a Cup champion.

* The NHL record for most points by any teenager in a playoff year belongs to , who registered 2-12—14 in 16 games as a 19-year-old with the North Stars in 1984 (after posting 5-4—9 in 9 GP as an 18-year-old in 1983). Overall, nine teenagers have recorded double-digit totals in a single playoff year including three with the Stars/North Stars franchise (also in 1981: 8-5—13, 19 GP and Tom McCarthy in 1980: 5-6—11, 15 GP).

* , who has matched a career high with six in 2018-19, has 36 playoff games to his credit (21-13) after leading the Lightning to the 2015 Stanley Cup Final and 2016 Eastern Conference Final. Bishop has recorded four of his five career playoff shutouts in series-clinching games, including two such performances in 2016 before suffering a season-ending injury in Game 1 of the Conference Finals. Bishop is one of seven in NHL history with at least four shutouts in series-clinching games.

* Spezza (1,063 GP) is one of 12 active NHL players with 1,000 or more career regular-season games in search of his first Stanley Cup. The others: Patrick Marleau, Joe Thornton, , Dan Hamhuis, Ryan Suter, Jason Pominville, Dion Phaneuf, Brent Burns, Thomas Vanek, and .

* Jim Montgomery is the 23rd first-year head coach in NHL history to lead his team to a playoff berth after they failed to qualify for the postseason in consecutive campaigns before his arrival, and the first since accomplished the feat with the Avalanche in 2013-14.

IN REVIEW: 2018-19 REGULAR SEASON Team Notes * Dallas has allowed the second fewest goals against this season (196), only the NY Islanders have less (195). The only time that the Stars/North Stars have allowed the fewest goals in a season was 1998-99 (168 GA) when and teamed up to win the William M. Jennings Trophy before Belfour played every minute of playoff action to lead the club to its first Stanley Cup. The franchise has finished as a runner-up for the Jennings Trophy on four occasions (1997-98, 2000-01, 2002-03 and 2003- 04).

* The Stars had a seven-game road from Feb. 28 – March 28, one shy of the Blues (8) and Predators (8) for the longest such streak this season.

* Dallas is 13-9-2 (28 points) against Central Division opponents, tied for the highest point total by a Central Division club in intradivisional play and tied for the second-highest win total. This includes an 8-3- 2 (18 points) mark against the three Central Division teams that have already clinched a berth in the 2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs (3-1-0 vs. WPG; 3-1-0 vs. STL; 2-1-2 vs. NSH).

* Additionally, the Stars are 27-16-5 (59 points) against Western Conference opponents, tied for the fourth-highest win total and third-highest point total by any Western Conference club in intraconference play.

* The Stars rank fourth in the NHL in faceoff win percentage (51.9%), trailing only the Flyers (54.8%), Maple Leafs (53.2%) and Flames (52.3%). Dallas has three players with more than 400 faceoff wins (Tyler Seguin: 665; Radek Faksa: 561; Jason Spezza: 459).

* On Dec. 22, the Stars defeated the Wild in Minnesota – the city in which the franchise debuted in 1967 – in its 4,000th regular season game. Only four other non- franchises have reached the 4,000- game milestone (PIT, PHI, LAK, STL).

Player Notes * With his first of two goals on March 25, Tyler Seguin reached the 30- mark for the fifth time with the Stars. leads all players in Stars/North Stars franchise history with nine 30-goal seasons. Four days earlier, Seguin collected his 70th point of 2018-19 to become the first player in Stars/North Stars history to hit the mark in each of his first six seasons with the club. Only Modano (12) has registered more 70-point campaigns with the franchise.

* Ben Bishop (March 2-19, 2019) joined (Dec. 10-21, 1967) and Ed Belfour (Nov. 15- 29, 2000) as the only netminders in franchise history to record shutouts in three straight appearances. Bishop pushed his franchise-record streak to 233:04, the longest of the 2018-19 season.

* Bishop is on pace to post the best single-season save percentage (.933) in Stars/North Stars franchise history (min. 40 GP), with his 2.03 goals-against average currently ranking five on the franchise list (min. 40 GP) behind two campaigns apiece respectively from (1.73 in 2002-03 and 1.98 in 2003- 04) and Ed Belfour (1.89 in 1997-98 and 1.99 in 1998-99).

* Bishop ranks first and second among NHL goaltenders in save percentage and goals-against average, respectively (min. 25 GP). A Stars/North Stars goaltender has finished among the top two in each category only six times, including only three instances where the netminder finished as a leader on either list: Belfour finished atop both lists in 1999-00, while Turco did the same in 2000-01 and 2002-03. The Stars reached at least the second round in each of those campaigns, including a trip to the Final in 2000.

* On Jan. 2, Miro Heiskanen (12-21—33 in 80 GP) recorded his second multi-goal outing of the season to boost his totals to 9-10—19 in 41 games and establish a single-season franchise record for points by a teenage defenseman, eclipsing the previous mark set by in 1974-75 (6-12—18 in 80 GP).

* John Klingberg set a single-season team record for game-winning goals by a defenseman (5). He remains one shy of tying ’s franchise record set with the North Stars in 1971-72 (6). Since

making his debut in 2014-15, Klingberg (18) trails only Oliver Ekman-Larsson (21) and Brent Burns (20) in game-winning goals by defensemen.

* Dallas’ trio of Jamie Benn, Tyler Seguin, and Alexander Radulov have scored 42.4% of the team’s total goals this season (87 of 205) – only Edmonton and Chicago’s three top-scoring players make up for a higher percentage.
